One of the most exciting upcoming films in the realm of original-concept science-fiction has got to be Gareth Edwards' The Creator. Hitting theaters this September, The Creator is set in a world where humanity is at war with highly advanced artificial intelligence. John David Washington leads as an ex-special forces agent tasked with hunting down and killing "The Creator," the architect behind the advanced AI that's developed a war-ending weapon, a weapon that also has the power to eradicate humankind.
At San Diego Comic-Con, not only did Edwards appear on the "Directors on Directing" panel hosted by Collider Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub, but he also had a one-on-one conversation with Perri Nemiroff during which he addressed the real-world relevance of the AI-centric storyline, filming with two cinematographers, why the title changed from True Love to The Creator, and loads more.
Check out Perri's full interview in this video!

well the first teaser made it clear those robots just want to live in peace, mind their own business and some of them are living in a remote village far away from humanity and the big cities cuz they don't want to interfere with them.

@@killert_7759amen to that, heard test screenings went really well, and given that this isn’t Warner bros or Disney, you can trust that news a bit more. Also Gareth Edwards teaming up with the cinematographer of Dune and The Batman, i feel like even if the narrative is meh the visuals are still gonna do a great job

On this day August 4, three years ago at least 218 people were killed and around 7,000 injured in an explosion in Beirut. Some 300,000 people were suddenly homeless. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. It is now time for Disney/20 Century studios to remove the Beirut clip from this film. The longer it stays in the film, the more it will taint the film in a negative light. I do not blame the VFX artists as many are underpaid, highly pressured to deliver crazy deadlines, and undervalued. The people at the top should have known better. It is time for the filmmakers to do the right, ethical, and moral thing and remove the clip for the sake of the many traumatised people who were affected by this terrible disaster. No tragic event should ever be used for the sake of entertainment and is an insult to those who sadly lose their lives in such awful circumstances. Until the clip is removed, I will urge everyone not to see this film.

Film is not just entertainment Film is art. Let me ask you this: Do you think no one should see titanic because it’s a real event where people died? I am pretty sure the scene in the film will not be used for a quick laugh but rather should shock the audience
@jonaidjilani211
@jonaidjilani211 9 ай бұрын
@@Carlo_ReNews The Titanic was a re-enactment of an event. The Creator is using real-life footage of an explosion where people died. You are right, perhaps they shouldn't make films like Titanic as profiting off a tragedy but I think using real actual footage of an explosion where people died is wrong and should be removed. I really don't think these people are interested in making art, they are in it to make money, let's be honest. Even if it is art, it should have the same ethics as everything else.
@jonaidjilani211
@jonaidjilani211 9 ай бұрын
Also, the film Titanic was an actual reference to the event, the ethics can still be debated around that. The Creator is a copy and paste of actual footage of a tragic event to create a VFX shot without any reference for a sci-fi movie. If there was a defence for this decision then why haven't Disney given a justification to the media when asked about this?

Using the actual footage of the Beirut explosion is a shame on your part. Many families died that day and you use it for gaining profit. I am not going to watch this film in memory of the loved ones I lost that day, and I will do anything in my power to let people know what a terrible thing you are doing.

I'm still going to watch the film since it's a scifi original made by an auteur using a budget that would be considered as mid for the genre and co-DP by Greig Fraser and score by Hans Zimmer. Disney and Gareth have said the shot was never meant to be included in any trailer and only meant to be used for VFX reference, and it's not in the film. Still, their team gave the green light on that trailer, which is worrisome, but I hope the whole industry learned a lesson to be respectful after the backlash.
