The Wednesday Addams I know will always be that blank faced girl that's sadistic and enjoys the darker things in life. I thought that Addams Family Values did a perfect way of capturing the romantic aspect with Wednesday. She wasn't boy crazy and still had that sadistic side of her, even scaring her love interest at the end.

So happy I made it to the end of this to catch that great Simpsons reference.

I grew up with Cartoon network and the old Addam's family cartoon from the 90s. Every incarnation brings me joy. Due to the unconditional love that family has for one another.

I was surprised at what the family looked like for the 2019 movie. Especially Gomez. I've always seen Gomez Addams to be like really tall and handsome and debonair but I never saw the original drawings of the comics. So then when I saw the 2019 version I was like are you kidding me what is this? And then when I looked back and saw some of the original Comics I was like, oh my gosh! That is so faithful to it. Pleasant surprise

I have watched and re-watched the original show, it's my favorite. I loved the first two movies with Raul Julia and Angelica Houston. Morticia & Gomez are still couple goals.

I think they can make a 3rd Addams Family movie with Wendesday and Pugsly grown up. Wednesday can be the new Morticia married to the boy in the second movie and she pities him as he loves her. Pugsly can look like Fester and Pubert can be a spitting image of Gomez. An older Morticia is basically the new grandmama. The movie can say that Gomez has just passed away and Morticia is in mourning but proud how how Gomez went out like an Addams. Say that he went mad and a mob went after him with torches. His mausoleum can be the grandest in the cemetery. Fester hangs around with his beloved Dementia and their kids. They can say Lurch went away to live out his playboy ways and have a new butler who is Lurch like. Thing has a lady Thing.

Ted Cassidy didn't entirely improvise "You rang". He borrowed it from a popular show called The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, where it was the catch phrase of Maynard G Krebs. The characters from that show were later the basis for the characters on Scooby Doo (who met the Addams Family, as you mentioned), with Maynard becoming Shaggy. And Bob Denver, who played Maynard, later went on to be Gilligan of Gilligan's Island. Both Gilligan and Shaggy met the Harlem Globetrotters. It's a weird little nexus around a show most people seem to have forgotten.

This video deserves way more views. You did a great job dissecting this wonderful franchise

Back in the fall of 1965, My late pop took me to the main library. While there, I found a collection of The new Yorker Adams family cartoons, that I checked out, and was blown away by. They managed to do perhaps, the best translation to the screen ever done.

I love the Addams Family. I feel it would be fun and some times get ideas for a modern version. One that would add more characters, and give a shout out and a voice any one in real life who lives differently. overall I liked the video. Wish you had gone in to more details on a few areas. But I liked it.

The thing about Saban Entertainment's Addams Family productions is they OWNED Fox Kids and Fox Family because of their Power Rangers successes…until they ended up selling to Disney (in 2001)

Don't forget that the character Lurch was inspired by the performance of Boris Karloff as Morgan the mute drunkard butler in the 1932 film "The Old Dark House" directed by James Whale.

Well, if you thought the 2019 version was bland, now we have the 2021 version which is even more bland! You know what Addams Family needs? A family-bonding road trip! No wait, they need Wednesday to want to not be an Addams! Hell, just do both plots at the same time, and while you’re at it, make Fester an octopus!

this was an excellent video! also fun fact! if you go to westfield, the birthplace for charles addams, there are murals of the addams family that you can find when you enter the city! on top of that, westfield does an annual celebration every october called addamfest! they've been doing this since 2018 to honor charles addams and lemme tell you the decorations and paintings that are put up are incredible! i haven't been able to attend one since my family is religious so they're sensitive abt halloween stuff but i remember going into westfield during an addamfest celebration while we were going to a restaurant and stuff i've seen were stunning!

As weird as It might seem, I had never seen the 90's movies until recent years. In my personal case, I grew with the 60's show because I used to watch It with my grandma.

There are a lot of parts of The Addams Family 2019 that work, but it also has a lot of problems.

Fantastic video. Since this I’ve been watching the original 1964 Addams Family show, and already it’s got me hooked. On a side note, I love the fitting use of Grim Fandango music. That really put a smile on my face.

Fun fact...the day that "Fester Disappeared" coincided with the date the "Adam's Family" was canceled. As in the day The Movie premiered, was the stated time after The Show was stopped being produced, at least this is the urban legend I heard.

watching wednesday has awoken my interest in the addams family again. i never had a connection to it for some reason and now i really wished i did, but I'm gonna catch up one day. this was a great video and i loved to learn so much about this strange family.

Great video, as for the 60s Addams family guy, it had a back to back rerun with the Munsters for a Halloween marathon in my local station in the early 2000s, plus when I met Astin's son, Sean, He was amazed that I knew that much about his father.

Say what you will, but I saw the musical in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre and it was extremely magical. The best musical I’ve ever seen. Just pure heaven. Great soundtrack too

Correction for the addams family 1973 cartoon I believe the only original 60s cast supplied the voices for the cartoon was Jackie Coogan who played fester and Ted Cassidy reprised his role as doing the voice for Lurch

"Fester the not Imposter"......a badass name for a wrestling character

I stumbled upon the 60 sitcom back in 2020 and my god it is my absolute favorite. It’s hilarious. I’m 23 btw. So not exactly old or young yet it captured me all the same. I’m sorta glad the character aren’t more dark. I think it’s better that they are a happy loving family living in their own dark strange world rather than a more malicious family like you would have expected. They don’t use bear traps, explosives, and knives to be cruel it just family game night. They are an icon for a happy family and proving that conforming to social norms and convention are not what is needed to be happy. The themes are so incredibly ahead of time. Watching it today and seeing how romantic and affection Gomez and Morticia don’t shock me in the slightest but for the 1960s that in it self was probably considered strange, gross, and inappropriate and exactly the reason why it was included. They were the opposite of what society expected so why would they care that outwardly affection was shameful. And Morticia was so independent and had as much control as Gomez. In fact, it was better than some feminist view where the female plays the head of household instead they were equally head of household. Hardly ever wanting to step over the other. And the children honest felt as awkward as real children. Lol. I don’t need them to have perfectly distinct personalities because they are children growing into themselves. And everyone else, Lurch, Uncle Festar, grandmama. All perfect as well. I think I was just so infatuated with the relationship of Gomez and Morticia that I was going to like the show no matter what. And the humor, how they think they are the normal ones and everyone else is strange, nails it every time for me.

I'll be interested to see your follow up video on the new Wednesday series. I watched it the day it came out and binged all 8 episodes. I haven't enjoyed a new show that much in the longest time. Just the right mixture of gothic imagery, grim-dark humor, a mystery plot, and an incredible cast.

I actually really enjoy the Addams Family musical. The songs are catchy and it captures the spirit of the characters well. Its main flaw is that the plot is basically just The Birdcage with the Addamses thrown in. ("Quick! We all have to appear normal for our kid's fiancée's family!")
