The Cri cri , "Cricket"

The Cri cri is the worlds smallest twin engine aircraft. I think this one was powered by two 15 hp engines. This was taken at Gore Airfield on 9th March 2013 and shows engine starting and taxiing and gives a good idea of how small it is.

Unsettling vibration form the engines, and you'd be screwed if one of them cut out in flight. But it's still cool enough for me to want one :D

The engines were originally Valmet 150cc double stroke intended for snow mobiles.

YEAH, WHEN I WAS AN FAA AVIATION INSPECTOR, I CERTIFIED ONE OF THESE AT HAWTHORN AIRPORT IN LOS ANGELES. THE GUY WHO ASSEMBLED IT WAS A PILOT FOR A MAJOR AIR LINES. THESE THING WILL GO 120 MPH AND 80 MPH ON ONE ENGINE, ONCE AIRBORNE. THE PILOT SITS ON A 10 GALLON TANK, WHICH IS MADE INTO A SEAT. THE WHOLE THING WEIGHS ABOUT 167 LBS. IT IS ALL SHEET METAL RIVETED TOGETHER. IT WILL GO 400 MILE ON 10 GALLONS OF GAS. BOTH ENGINES HAVE A BUILT IN ALTERNATOR, TO POWER THE LIGHTS AND GAUGES, FOR INSTRUMENT FLYING. THE WINGS FOLD UP AND ONE CAN TOW IT HOME LIKE TRAILER.

I doubt you were an inspector, or you were one with Alzheimer. If you study the original cri cri plans you'll see that the tank is in front of the pilot (under his legs), the original engines have no alternator, the wings cannot fold and there is a special designed trailer for it. You could modify it for folded wings etc. but then you aren't allowed to call it a cri cri because that was not in Michel Colomban building plans. I know, because I have the plans of this plane.
