Thank god someone's finally pointing out the toxic ad's shown in between tournaments. Like why are betting apps and gutka becoming a part of sports?? 💀🙏

The downfall of IPL's advertising genuinely began after they shifted from Sony MAX to Star Sports (2018). A movie broadcasting channel at least knew how to position a tournament like this appropriately. Like what kind of ads are suitable for a family viewing. A sports channel like STAR has completely ruined the advertisement landscape of the tournament. Also , why does BCCI permit sponsorships from harmful product brands like KAMLA PASAND , VIMAL and betting apps like DREAM 11 and MY11CIRCLE? Don't you guys have even bare minimum decency and morality ? A cricket tournament like this motivates the upcoming new generation to take up the sport as a career. And it's these stupid ads that completely kill the ethos of the game. Also, don't you think it's insulting to constantly pester the foreign players in IPL teams into speaking in our languages on camera? When these guys go back home, they end up bad-mouthing about our nation abroad. And that further deteriorates our image in the sporting world.

The rant is understable and appreciated. However, we need to understand that getting brands who can pay massive money in current economic situation is quite difficult. Don't forget we had a global pandemic in the previous leap year. SInce then, the companies and economies over the years are on a slowdown. A lot of us are facing inflation and so does the brands. If a Pan Masala, despite going in losses and Fantasy apps are ready to pay the desired money, why on earth a broadcaster would say no to it. A lot of people here are ranting about Sony Liv time and it's ads. However, one needs to understand that Star Sports and RCB have one thing in common: - They are business entities who care less for the fans. Jio Cinema, who currently holds the streaming rights have given quite a lot of money alongside Star Sports for TV. They need to recover this money till 2028. One more thing - How many of you guys remember Pepsi pulling out on a four-year deal in only two years because of two-year ban on CSK and RR?
