The Crooked House was built in 1765 and began as a farm house it's original name was the siden house siden meaning crooked in black Country slang in 1830 it became a pub a few years later it changed it's name to the glyne arm's after the land owner in which the pub stood on it has a distinctive appearance which it leans to the one side it is 4 feet lower on one side then the other this is because of 19th century mining subsidence in which the building is build on in the 1940s the pub was scheduled for demolition local brewery Banks's of Wolverhampton and Dudley brought the pub and made it safe by using gerders and pins to keep it proped up and keep it's lopsided aperance it was always known by the nickname the crooked house as years went by it officially changed it's name to the crooked house and why not it does have many ghost stories to tell including a woman named Polly who was eather pushed from the bridge near by or jumped she had been seen lots of times near the pub also a screaming boy in the bar who just opens his mouth with no sound coming out situated on the borders of himley gornal and Dudley it's well worth a visit
