RIP Brandon Lee, may his memory live on through his art🌹

I'm gonna say it this movie is a masterpiece and it doesn't need to be remade. Brandon Lee will always be Eric Draven.

I'm not always against remakes, but so few add anything or justify themselves. I don't think this should be remade. Not just because it cost Brandon Lee his life and serves as a kind of memorial to him to me, but because I can't imagine any version of this being as good as this cast. It feels like lightning in a bottle, exactly as it ought to be (even though it's not entirely accurate to the graphic novel it's based on.) But then, given that the author wrote it to process his grief when his fiancee was killed, I always felt it was wrong to make a franchise of it anyway. To me The Crow is this singular film, it's all it has to be, and it's enough.

I saw this opening night. Lines were so long they had to play it on every screen. I remember the faces of everyone coming out of previous showings. Giant smiles behind black eye liner, industrial leather, plaid skirts, and fishnet. It was a special place in time to be alive. This film encompassed that brief and beautiful era.

Yes, the secret message in this revenge tale is to hold your loved ones tight, and to remember that the little things are not trivial. And for parents: you are everything to your children, so hold yourself accountable to that high ideal.

"Victims, aren't we all?" Just, the coldest line ever spoken before a kill.

Eric Draven is technically a revenant, a form of undead solely animated by vengeance. They're corporeal, like vampires, zombies and ghouls, but their hunger is very different, and once sated they die for good. Kind of like a curse in human form.

Michael Massee, Funboy, is the actor who accidentally fired the fatal shot at Brandon Lee. He was in so much shock over that, he refused to watch the film up till his own death.

Literally one of the best adaptations of the source comic, it just nails the tone and vibe. this movie broke fans of brandon too back then. gone way too soon, "nothing is trivial".

Brandon Lee was outstanding in this movie. He was pretty much just an action guy before this, but he put so much emotion into every scene in The Crow. I can't imagine anyone being able to pull off a better performance. What happened to him was such a tragedy, and had he survived I'm certain he'd have become a superstar off the back of this movie.

Though Brandon and Eliza never wed, their wedding was set for shortly after the film wrapped, Brandon's family always viewed her as a member of the family and have kept a very close friendship to this day. Rather heartwarmingly, Eliza's daughter is best friends with the daughter of Shannon Lee, Brandon's sister.

I love how each villain's death reflects who they are as a villain..

My introduction to Brandon Lee was not this movie, actually. It was a smaller action film he did a couple years earlier called "Showdown In Little Tokyo" which has him teaming up with Dolph Lundgren. That movie has been largely ignored for no adequate reason. Check it out!

The main actor died doing a movie about a character that dies and comes back from death.

This movie has more than just a special place in my heart, it has the absolute soundtrack of my life.

Speaking as someone who is a big fan of the original movie and later read the comic. I think the two together really show the stages of grief in a way.

"30 hours of pain all at once!"

I didn't like this movie on my first viewing. But as I grew old it kicked me right in the feels. Brandon's character is more of a Revenant than a zombie.
