Meet SonLam:
Lam Nguyen was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States in 2017. Raising self and cultural awareness by embracing acceptance and generating curiosity are the purposes of his dance work. Lam skillfully utilizes his 12 years of experience in Popping training in the Contemporary approach to creating emotive movement patterns by challenging himself physically with intricate, tension and entanglement.

This is a classic battle of technique vs style. Sonlam is a much more technically proficient dancer and hits beats with subtlety but Crown has SO MUCH style that you can't help but root for him when he comes with the energy! Great battle!

To be honest, I’ve seen great dancers who can dance like robots and way better than Sonlam but this RB dance I think musicality is much more important. Sometimes, his dance doesn’t catch the beat, the rhythm and doesn’t make use of the vocal like the Crown.

You know what I loved the most about this battle? The fact that both styles are so completely different. SonLam out here representing old school and foundational hiphop with his insane popping + grooving + animations + isolations / etc...and you got Crown representing New School hiphop utilizing foundational movements of hiphop but very modern hiphop, more so theatrical (being able to see the story/concept)

You can tell this is one of Crown favorite song by Lil Wayne. As a dancer you have to listen to the music you dance too. You have to be able to vibe to all music.

Man I wish they hyped dancers like this everywhere man, this is what you get when you give dancers energy and love. I see too often in France that after rounds people don't clap, even after the winner is announced like 3 people give a half ass clap, and go back to their phones

It's because the French are ass holes 99% of the time, except for some of the French that came here in San Diego to train with us (there were like 4 of them, house and hiphop dancers), and they were the most hyped people I've ever seen

They both have very different styles. I think The Crown did more actual dancing and killed the choreography. Sonlam better with the pop lock but he looked like he was doing more performance art than dance.

I don’t know anything about dancing but Sonlam seemed better technically in rounds 1 and 2 (difficult choreography, very precise movement) but not by a lot. The third round Crown absolutely blew the roof

Crown definitely won!!! He dance with his soul. He was born to dance. So much swag. He is so gifted!!! His dance battle always come with alot of hype and energy. Crown is my type of dance. Direct just dance to main heard beats. Has the musicality. Dancing to the main and undertones beats, puts on a show, acts out the lyrics, versatile, I love it. Solan is a great dancer but his style doesn’t slow him much versatility and he focused on just the main noticeable beats unlike crown. Now his popping style was perfect for a milli, I was waiting for him to just spazz out

Very close imo. I think the first round was about equal, second round goes definitely to Sonlam and third to Crown. Sonlam won the 2nd with slightly greater margin then Crown did the third, but the momentum carried him to victory.

The Crown? Nah. He had energy & interacted with the crowd, sure, but his movements, at least with his arms, were very unrefined, & overall, he felt repetitive every round. I was entertained by the Crown, maybe for a few seconds in the second & last rounds, but SonLam entertained me the whole time watching him in every round. SonLam wins this one, personally. the Crown should be integrating more kicks & flips in his routine, because it's all shrugging, arm swinging, & twsiting, that's it.

I dunno, I watch these battles on youtube for years now and Sonlam seemed the superior dancer to me in almost everything except a healthy dose of charisma, Didn't find Crown particular impressive. I guess Sonlam should have added some hype moves (and laugh a bit more) to bring home a battle like this.

Honestly, both of them killed a milli, but they did it in different ways. SonLam used a Glock while the Crown came in with the Apaches and ICBMs. If it were against anyone else, then SonLam would’ve taken it, but the Crown just came in with too much ammunition. Also, another thing that I think gave him a bit of an edge in all these battles is that it seemed like the Crown knew these songs better than SonLam, so he knew when/how to emphasize certain parts of his dancing

they have 3 judges lol..almost every hiphop event has minimum of 2, majority of the time it's 3, and for BIG events like Redbull BC One it's like 10 judges or something

Crown has great flow and dances to the words as well. The other dancer is better in technic but is lacking energy and excitement . He just does mows and they don’t even go with the words, not that it has to but it’s better when it does
