For sure ya. He's been playing really well 95% of the last 12 games or so imo. Well enough that he could have easily had 3 goals in the playoffs so far. And he's throwing his weight around really well,. So good to see!

The Oilers maintained composure for most of the game, very good to see. Stupid penalties helped to bury them in previous playoffs. I dont know how long this run will be, but I'm hopeful this series will be short.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Vinnie. Blocked shots, hits, disrupting Kings passes & getting the puck to our guys. Amazing. Evander in the Kings crosshairs. Elbow, slueth foot, head shot, shoves and they expected him to lay down and disappear? So naive. Great assist to Drai off the side of the net too.

I am also permanently scarred by that 3rd period 5 goal comeback by the Kings. I remember Fuhrs white mask, I remember singing on the bench. I remember kings DANCING DOWN THE ICE, and riding hockey sticks.

Gotta love McD's brilliant intuition, seizing the opportunity to do the unexpected, taking it a few feet straight to Talbot when he didn't see passing options, and then persisting. Talbot also failed to cover the puck in close on Hyman's goal -- a tendency they're exploiting?

Solid play all around. Skinner reacted really well to a ton of pressure. Kane got healthy is what happened imo with Kane. Last 10 games of the season he was looking good and getting better. He could have had 3 goals right now if not for some excellent saves on him. Took a page from Gretzky on the off the net pass, nice! They will need this type of game consistently through every round to have a decent shot at the cup, so this is excellent.

I appreciate the Masashi anecdote. Living in the moment is the essence of ‘clutch’. I think this is part of the problem with the maple leafs. They are so fearful of failure that they focus too much on the future and the past.

That Kings team plays dirty, I am fine when guys compete hard, hit hard, fight, etc...but the slew footing, low bridging, late hits, stick work...they are trying to injure!
@johnnyeastside3000
@johnnyeastside3000 Ай бұрын
Agree. The knee shot on Desharnais in an earlier game. The “hard check” on him going behind the net that took him down in this one. Low and kind of slew foot style from behind. Taking a a player’s legs out from behind so he falls backwards…. dangerous hockey imo. LA is a dirty team. I think they are going low and from behind on Vinnie on purpose. This series can’t be over fast enough for me.

Defenseman getting over zealous on hitting can cause odd man rushes, or a clear break away. Kings know how to avoid hits too. They're not just letting the Oilers win in these games.

Squishy, both Nurse and Vinny get soooo many clear opportunities to take the body, but they just don't. McDavid is literally hitting more and THAT isn't acceptable in my eyes.

@RickL_was_here yes there are times they can hit but they also played a smart game of not being caught behind the play. The PK has been perfect, nurse stopped a couple sure chances. No one is going to stop McDavid from hitting as much as he is right now.

It was a lively affair (if you consider 92 minutes of combined penalty time lively) with multiple misconducts given and Kane getting the ever allusive Gordie Howe Hatrick in a Playoff game (Goal, Assist, Fight (with ejection)). Some said the game got "chippy" in the third period. That's like calling a Tsunami "moisture" unless the chipping involved axes. This was an 80's game really. The fights, the blowout (no mercy style). Many of the 3rd and 4th liners were playing ABOVE their pay grade. I took special notice of Janmark, he was WORKING IT all night. Holloway didn't get a goal this game but he too was flying out there. LA Hit More (9 more actually so not inconsequential). Oilers shot more (like 12 more so not inconsequential). Oilers PP was running nearly 50% and the PK at 100% (and with all of the penalties in the 3rd those boys walk on water (when it's frozen or rain has soaked the sidewalk). Math wise this was a really fun game. I loved when LA scored and the Oilers (Kane) came back about a minute later to score. Oilers had this one pretty much from the jump. Now to do it 2 more times and move on. Take care all.

6-1, let's hope it's a sign of reaching playoff form. It needs to be maintained for the final 28 games of the year, at maximum. Preferably it would be more around 20-24 games...with 16 wins. (Has a team ever gone 16 or 28 games to win a cup, in the current format of 4 best of seven rounds? What's the historical max, min, and average?) Oilers won it in 18 games in '88.

A great game by Kane, A smart, tough playoff performance. I was annoyed with him on the first LA goal when he let Doughty beat him to the net, for the first Kings goal. He more than made up for that mistake, both on the scoresheet and drawing penalties, and getting the Kings players off their game.
