This song is a rare work of art. A sparse mysterious poem overlayed on top of an absolute genius set of guitar tracks that take you on a trip deep into the woods of your own psyche. Robert Smith must have been inspired by an incredibly powerful force to write this. I’ll never grow tired of listening to it.

oh settle down. it's pretty basic stuff here. these aren't virtuosos or some shit. this is highschool level music here....c'mon. I get thery are you're favorite band or whatever..but, no. the playing is about the level of you average 10 year old KZfaqr. you could teach someone this song in about a month, from never playing an instrument...all parts- bass, drums, synth...even the singing is totla amatuer hour. it's just generic pop music at it's core. very little talent, skill, or experience required to emulate. I like your name...reminds one of your comments.
@alanstrom2221
@alanstrom2221 2 ай бұрын
@@oliverdurgen5953 The concept of the music has to be created by a person from zero. To describe it the way you have is a reflection of your ignorance of music and how it is made from the imagination of a person or persons. Whether it is The Cure or Guns n Roses. Axl was in another room when he heard Slash 'noodling' on his Guitar. Axl insisted that Slash keep the 'noodle' and it was used as the intro to "Sweet Child of Mine". Some of the most famous riffs are simple and basic. "Smoke on the Water" "A Forest" is extremely high on my favourite songs list. A few of my favourite Bands are The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks & Status Quo. On the surface they may sound simple, yet, they are far more complex than first thought. A famous musician once said that it's not the notes you use, it's the space between the notes that create the music. There's great use of space used on "A Forest" Too many people enter comments on You Tube that are wildly inaccurate and subjective. I like to focus on facts and reality.

The Cure is one of the greatest bands in the history of music. They are exquisitely unique and frankly unrepeatable. Though Robert Smith and company have influenced scores of bands that have followed they have created music that is so intensely magical and so deliciously soul invigorating it’s almost impossible to try and define it I’m sure that my story with this band is no different than your own. They were one of the musical institutions that saved me in the youthful coming of age period of deep confusion and overpowering despair that is high school. Robert Smith is one of the most gifted poets and singers of any era going back centuries. Professor of rock - 2020.

Growing up, art was always my thing, and when I was 15 years old, this song inspired me to draw a strange picture of a boy in the woods, which I still have. I swear I was so haunted by this song, and I used to listen to it with my headset on, over and over. We lived in the mountains, and we frequently drove through the forest. I am 66, and I always dismissed The Cure based on what I assumed about them from the one or two songs I had heard. I wasted decades when I could have seen them and grooved on them and spread the word about them. About two years ago, on a whim, I watched some of their fortieth anniversary show, and I was blown away. Still am.

The Cure isn't a band it's a feeling! you can tell their sound still influences so many modern indie artists, my friend is one of them, The Cure were the sound track to our high school days, every song is a timeless classic to us, while I'm here I wanna throw my friend some love for all the good times, he's a music producer now and makes great indie tunes on his laptop, try searching Lonely Gimmick - Roll Me Over, you may be in for a surprise

This song has been the theme of my life. Skating down the street with my very first bright yellow walkman in the late 80's this piece and so many of other Cure songs became anthemic pieces that played in a continuous loop of escapism. Even now as I approach 48, I still skate, though nowhere near as hard, and still love moments alone with these tunes ringing in my ears as I reminise about the past. So evocatively beautiful as an individual song, I get goose bumps every damn time.
