In the first episode of our new video series, The Cure Chronicles, we interview Dr. Marcus Conant, who treated thousands of patients with HIV/AIDS when the disease first arose. While running the inpatient dermatology service at the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Conant identified Kaposi's Sarcoma in patients seeking treatment. Before anyone understood the impact the HIV virus would have on the world, Dr. Conant took the lead in forming the Kaposi’s Sarcoma Research & Education Foundation in 1982, which later became the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Dr. Conant conducted early clinical trials, persevering despite seeing 94% of patients die during the epidemic’s first years. His clinical experience sensitized him to the suffering caused by the disease. As a physician with a holistic perspective, Dr. Conant’s work expanded beyond the strictly clinical, to include education, research, and advocacy.
About The Cure Chronicles:
There are more than 38 million people in the world currently living with HIV/AIDS. At American Gene Technologies® (AGT™), we believe there is hope for a cure. But it will take everyone working together to make it a reality and permanently end the suffering of millions of people living with HIV today.
AGT is testing a single-infusion cell therapy (AGT103-T) to hopefully cure people living with HIV. Meanwhile, we want to spotlight some of the many people in the HIV community who strive to keep hope alive and tip the odds toward success.
The Cure Chronicles video series features thoughtful conversations with people living with HIV, advocates, medical experts, policymakers, and others working hard toward the shared goal of ending the devastating HIV epidemic.

Dr Marcus Conant changed so many lives in the 80s. He was one of the first few doctors who didn’t turn patients away who had AIDS. Everyone was so afraid of them back then because they didn’t know what AIDS was and how it was transmitted. Thank you!

I been living with it since 1995. It really has sucked to live most of my life having to take pills. Even if this is a cure and I can stop taking pills, the damage has already been done from 25 years of taking HIV meds. It will be so awesome to not have to wake up to an alarm clock to have to take meds. It will be so nice to not have to swallow so many pills its like having dinner.. I dont live very far from these guys. Like 40 minutes away from their building. I have had the pleasure to talk with one of their members who deals with investing. It is a private company, and I understand them not going public because then they have their stock holders voting on things.. its better to stay private..

I hope and pray that this cure will succeed and be released around the world. And I Hope that it will come in reasonable/affordable price wherein all countries including the 3rd world country can afford its price so that all people living with HIV can access to this cure. Because if this cure will be expensive, it might become useless bcause not all PLHIV can afford, given that most of them are coming from the poorest countries like Africa and Asian Countries. By God's will, I hope for the good.🙏🙏🙏
