It's interesting because as both an infant and pensioner, your body isn't fully intact and neither is your brain. Benjamin gradually forgot everything as he physically grew smaller into an infant, similar to an elderly person growing old. Ability to move at both ends is difficult as is memory and speech. He still acted like a child earlier in the film but in the body of an old man. Only showed that mentally, he didn't really age backwards but he only really did physically.

And there was eyetoy photos of my sisters, brother and sis friends. So young, curious of the world, not sure but it was a good time. There were setbacks on things. But as I look at the pictures. And even people on internet 2013, remember them as they came around. Yeah this film I saw in 2008 up London cinema little famous square with my brother and his friend. It was a good but now watching this I just cried just now, thinking my god time is precious. I love my family very much. And the people I know or knew I think of them at times.

Actually the one with the clock is very interesting. If you notice, the clock is not moving clockwise but anti-clockwise. Perhaps that symbolizes the life of Benjamin - moving backwards. Also, if you remember in the beggining of the film, the man who manufactured the clock wanted to create a clock that could bring back in time, one that could save his son from dying in the war. Very heartbreaking and an excellent cinematic detail, and a great film overall.

I saw this movie without knowing what it would be about back in 2008. The ending hit me so hard and so unexpected that I cried on the way home in the car. The last few scenes reminded me of my brother who died. He died at 24 but I have pictures of him being small like those scenes. I can't put a finger on what it was but it really hurt. I was 24 years old when I watched it, to this day the ending really hurts. I'm a 35 year old man now and still can't watch it without tears.

@@almighty5839 The phrase "Nothing lasts" is repeated throughout the movie. This is a classic Hollywood technique to lead to a powerful ending line. Think of "Here's looking at you, Kid." But this movie uses a brilliant alternate version of that technique. Though "Nothing lasts" Has been imprinted in our minds, and everything about the epilogue leads up to saying it, the words aren't explicitly said. Instead, the epilogue just hangs, feeling unfinished. It leaves you expecting the words "but nothing lasts" Though, the narrator doesn't explicitly say the words, he doesn't need to at this point. As long as you have paid attention to the movie, the words "but nothing lasts" should just come to your mind automatically." Though, they take a real gamble in this, as many people probably missed it, but if you are one of the lucky ones who DO pick it up, the imagery that follows the epilogue (Some know Shakespeare,. some swim, some dance, etc.) communicates the phrase "but nothing lasts" perfectly with imagery alone (The clock being washed away in the water along with everything else) By NOT explicitly stating the words, It leaves you feeling blessed that you caught it. I saw this movie years ago. I recently compared this story to my Mom's story as she is 92 and suffers from dementia. Having dementia is similar to this movie in a lot of ways. As she grows older she gets more childlike. In her humor, in her perception of the world, in speaking in absolutes, in asking the same question over and over. She is similar to Benjamin in that as time passes she gets younger and her loved ones are all like Daisy in that we feel the pain. It is a disease of regression.

It’s 5 am and I just finished watching this movie, what a masterpiece. Is it just me or does old love look much more “real” than the social media love era we’re living? People actually had plans, real interactions, crazy eye contact back then. I cried a few times watching this, and I don’t remember the last time I cried. I guess what hit me the most was the fact that his daughter and wife were everything he loved and had at that moment and he still had to leave them for ever. How tough is that? That last letter where he mentioned he wishes he could have been there for his daughter in the different stages of her life was really sad as well. “You could be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates; but when it comes down to the end, you have to let go.”

Such a beautiful film, it had even myself tearing up at a few moments. You are attracted to this film by the concept of reverse aging, but that gimmick isn't what makes this movie fantastic, its story and brilliant acting is what makes this movie great. I found myself sad to see Benjamin Button slowly deteriorate, but when I thought about it, that's what happens to all of us who are lucky enough to live a full life. We start off barely able to move, and we slowly burn out before our final moments. Benjamin Button did the exact same, just in the opposite order, really emphasizing how life is a circle. I do believe that Benjamin's circumstances allowed him to appreciate life far more than most, letting him live it to the fullest, it is interesting how even though Benjamin Button aged it reverse, he still went through the exact same motions as everyone else. Curious? Isn't it?

It really is amazing realizing how everything in life comes full circle. How we come into the world as infants, and how one day,if we're fortunate enough to live a full life, end up as feeble infants having to be cared for all over again..really is an interesting yet frightening to concept.

It's was so sad because he was born old but he knew about Daisy his father knew he was born different and Benjamin lost his memories about his mother and Daisy he thought that Daisy was his mother and I cried so hard when Daisy kissed his cheek and when he closed his eyes and died because he was different and Daisy knew he was gonna die when he was young sadly😧😢

It’s funny how so many people say this is such a sad movie, yet it’s basically the same story of every person on earth that lives a ripe full age. With couples, one partner usually goes first.

This is honestly one of my favorite movies And everytime I get to the end I tear up cause it's just very heartwarming, seeing the peculiarity of life in a curious of circumstances and the ups and downs just coming full circle This movie taught me in some way what life is and how to enjoy every damn second that passes and remember each moment, cause at the end of the day Those moment are priceless and are what give life meaning

This film/book speaks volumes towards kids that are “old souls”, when really when old souls get older they inherit the spirit of the child wonder.

This movie has a special scene where Benjamin went to india to find the elixir if life and it is so true that india is a very special place in the world. When Benjamin as toddler,it was hard to handle the Emotions as you would realise that life is a circle.I became more caring to my parents from that moment abd i would advise others to treat their parents and every elders respectfully and by love as what goes around comes around and if that happens and i hope that it'll be than this world will be a best place to live on and on...

This is one of the few movies that actually makes me ball out crying it shows that everyone may be different and be good at different things but in the end we all pass on and that nothing last. The last part especially brings the water works seeing all the characters from the beginning and what they did just ended it perfectly

The scene of the water rushing to the clock made me more sad than Daisy’s death. I don’t know why, it was really thematic for some reason.

I feel the same way. We don't know what happened but we can only imagine that this would be a horrific time to live. And daisy is kinda lucky that she died before that...
@sissysovereign12942 жыл бұрын
@@BlueMoonlight777 During the "present day" scenes of Daisy telling the story of Benjamin in her deathbed to her, Hurricane Katrina was happening. That's why you see water flooding everywhere along with evacuation sirens going off. It was a very devastating event that struck New Orleans in real life.

The scene of water (chair moving) and the clock, is symbolism for how life starts The water is the fluids for the egg and sperm to meet, the chair is Benjamin as a sperm, and the clock being hit with water is the egg (or testicles)

Benjamin was born in the same year that Mr Gateau presented his backwards clock for the station. He died 1 year before the clock was taken away and replaced with a digital clock. When Daisy died, the basement which contained the original Mr Gateau's clock was flooded. It's freaking brilliant.
