Will Economists insist that self-employment is not acceptable but only if the youth work as employees, they will be excluded from the unemployed status? How self- employment is to be included in GDP growth? We know that there are 97 crore adult population in India. Those who are above 40 years old and not in the employment market maybe 40%. Women comprise of about 52% of 97 crores and about 40% of women do not aspire for jobs. Students who are below 21 years old are 4% of 97 crores. Arrive at the persons in the employment market, after taking into account of the employees in the Public sector and private sectors. Let us no look at RBI data which shows, 43 crore MUDRA/MSME borrowers and 12 crore farmer loans. Self-employed is 55 crores. ??
