This serial is far more significant than poeple realize. It acts as the blueprint for how 7th doctor stories were written in the wilderness years, which then went on to impact how certain stories were written in the modern era. For example, there's no human nature / family of blood without curse of fenric.

This is possibly my favourite 7 story. It has so many layers and shows a different side to The Doctor. A darker, manipulative one. Ace is brilliant and the guest cast were a dream. Nicholas Parsons was a revelation! ❤

Totally agree. I love this story. Dark, action packed and a great script. McCoys finest hour. (and a half) 😉

Curse of Fenric is still my No.1 Doctor Who story. It's 100 minutes of slow-burning horror, essentially at the hands of a Lovecraftian Great Elder God (Hastur the Unspeakable). The WW2 setting is fantastic, the one-off monsters and side-characters are awesome, and 7+Ace are in top form throughout - with the simple concept of 'faith' being susprisingly underutilized throughout the show. The only downside is -- Season 26 is most rewarding when you've followed 7+Ace long enough to see her arc unfold. Otherwise, if you jump into the story with no prior knowledge, a lot of the revelation (and Ace's arc) may fall a bit flat. Either way, it's Peak Who! And my top pick from Season 26.

I love that with the faith of the doctor in this episode it’s his friends, I love that he also mentions Susan Ian and Barbara when he needs to have faith

Something tells me that Fenric is “the one who waits” that the Toymaker was so afraid of he refused to play a game with him.

Personally, I think they're trying to build up a new arch-villain. If it's an existing villain, then yes, Fenric is a possible candidate, as he's one of the few remaining Elder-God level threats that could worry the Toymaker, but I have a feeling it'll be something completely new.

One of the best it really showed that doctor who was getting back on its feet during mccoy's last series. This is honestly what the show needs right now, a dark and gritty era
@reubensalter8125
@reubensalter8125 8 ай бұрын
No it doesn't. There's loads of dark episodes among the lighter ones. That's the whole point of the show. Constant shifts in tone between each episode/season. And are we seriously ignoring Blink, Waters of Mars, Good Man Goes to War, Night Terrors, Snowmen, Center of the TARDIS, Flatline, Under the Lake/Before the Flood and World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls?

@@animelovers000 13s era was also dark in some places. But it was still quite bland. It just didn't know what it wanted to be. And that's down to Chibnall trying to make it more serious more than anything else. Not to mention 13 could have been a great doctor with the right people in charge

Wow. This is. DREADFUL. SO VERY EMBARRASSING. You can see they'd run out of everything. The actors do what they can with what's here, which is an utter mishmash. Uff. The only ones looking at this fondly were children when this came out and are blinded by nostalgia.
