This is a dwarf fortress gameplay video I made to tell the story of The Cursed Volcano Fortress. This is one of my favorite playthroughs in one of my favorite forts I have built in Dwarf Fortress steam edition. Enjoy!

I purchased this game awhile back and have yet to sink some serious hours into it. I've been waiting for something to stir that desire and get me going on my own epic journeys. You Sir have given me that reason to explore everything this game has to offer. Going into the game with some kind of plan is what I would recommend, even if it's something simple, like building a huge tower or a pyramid.

Hey dude I appreciate the compliment! This video took me a couple weeks to finish, the script took forever, organizing the mountain of footage took forever, and editing also took forever lol What do you mean by a longer form series? I feel like over time, with practice, I will get much quicker at putting a project like this together But I'm very open to any suggestions. I'm at a point where I'm not 100% sure where I want to go with content creation, I just know that I love it and it's my passion, I'm sure I will continue to learn and evolve my style as I go All that being said I REALLY enjoyed making this vid, I had a blast, and I would love to make more like it

@@scudpunk Hard to keep any fort going after its volcano erupts but I think OP wants 'too see what happens here next', and then after that they suspect they will 'want too see what happens here next, next'... Ad infinitum. or maybe just Ad three-um... :D :P

Such a sweet and lovely tale of mayhem and violence and greed - we witness the creation and evolution of an intense unique culture - all the way to its apex and beyond… and all of it happening right before our very eyes !!! Thrilling. Disney is going to want to make an 8-episode series from this masterpiece. Just wait for it… they’ll be calling.

My preferred fort design these days has an uber-fortified entrance which guards against both the threats from above and below. I put my stairs down to the caverns outside the gate, so cavern-dwellers have to run the same gauntlet that goblin sieges do to get in. That way I don't have to divide my defenders. Though that's oversimplifying it a bit. The stairs down are still underground, and I keep them covered with a drawbridge when I'm not accessing them. When I do access them I block off the surface so they can't get onto the surface without going through my fort first. That forces them through my entrance defences. And if what's coming up looks a bit too dangerous, I redirect it via bridges into a labyrinth. My 1.0 version had a heap of traps in it, but my current version just has long winding passages with bridges that I can open and close in order to direct things into holding cells. Which are just long passages with raised bridges at either end. There's also a passage full of cage traps. The beauty of it is I can trap many different beasts (even !trap ones) and release them selectively to either fight each other, go down into the caverns and clear away riff-raff, or provide training targets for my marksdwarves. DF is autism-crack.

15:42 I think you atom smashed those nobles rather than dropping them into the magma. Unless that disposal room is at least 2 z levels tall. Bridges that retract always drop things, bridges that lift throw things. But if there is nowhere to throw them, it has the same effect as closing the bridge on them.

Scud. months ago I made a comment with your previous video that I loved the story but was concerned about what I thought 'needless' swearing in the scripted video where you chose to add the swearing in it. Well today it came back on my feed and instantly remembered when I started watching again and stopped and saw my comment still there. Then I saw that you made this one. This video is 10000% BETTER and I hope you also see that it wasnt necessary to add the extra edgy flare. You did a great job and the time that you put in was worth it! I hope you do more and WILL be re-watching this one with my kids who love DF and play it all the time. And dont get me wrong, we live in a world where you cant completely shield the kids from everything and hear it plenty enough. It just the 'normalizing' the use of others in everything that is a pain. Twitch streaming, I get it that you talk on the stream they way you talk normally and feel confortable and you do you. But if you do these types of scripted videos, they are great without the choice of adding it. Subscribed and hope to see your next one when you are able to put the time that you put this one. Good Job.

Ahh yes dwarf fortress. the game where you can turn your children into serial killers by having them haul corpses and demonic forces erupt from the underneath. By the way you can set children not to haul corpses in the labor menu under chores.
