Zephyr (front and lazy) and Nikai are captive-born gray wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, in South Salem, NY. They are two of the three 'ambassador wolves' at the WCC that help teach the public about wolves and their vital role in the environment.

This reminds me of Max here (in my photo) who used to howl mournfully at sirens, also looked wolflike and was mistaken for a hybrid, though he was neither as far as I know. (RIP, my sweet baby boy, love you always.🌈)

Fun fact! As Lewis and Clark were trying to map the US they would encounter wolf packs that sounded enormous. Wolves can distort their howl to sound like there are more around than there actually is. When they went to look for the wolves there would be far fewer than they expected. If you Blast the audio in this you can hear the distortion mid howl. :D
