"There'll always be an England While there's a country lane, Wherever there's a cottage small Beside a field of grain." I can never hear these words without thinking of Dad's Army and how the Godfrey's cottage was saved from demolition. 🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧

What I remember about my time in England are the veterans. You see them everywhere proudly wearing their ribbons and medals.

I absolutely love this group!!!! I wish Americans respected and honored our veterans in this manner. OUTSTANDING!!!
@JBM4255 жыл бұрын
Americans don't honor veterans? Really? You haven't heard of the Honor Flights? See the patriotic ceremonies that honor current and older veterans? There are some music groups here that are similar to the D-Day Darlings, too. (BTW, I really loved the Darlings and wish they had won.)

@@JBM425 Hi JBM425, I see your point but I also agree with Sommer Charise. England (and the Old Countries i.e. Europe in general) has a longer history than ours and many towns still bear the scars of previous wars. Up to recently, Europeans children were very educated in the respective history of their country(ies). We (Americans) used to be that way as well, but over the last decades me have focused more on our faults, fighting one another, racial/gender/economic/religious... issues at the expense of our heritage (which is not that bad, by the way). Fortunately for me, at least in the Northeast, I do get rebates and recognition from time to time as a Disabled Veteran. Peace be with you and thank you for remembering... Ciao, L

I traveled to the UK in 2016, one day I wore my US Marine Corp shirt and I was blown away as anyone over 50 stopped me to say thank you. I knew a lot about WWII but thinking they still remember the day we took back their country from Germany even though it was not my war.. God bless you all.

I just so love this music; it was about 10 years before I was born but I was raised in a musical home(my dad played the fiddle and I sang) and the music of that era was what I heard most in our home and I did love music almost from birth (I think) And here 75 years later I still LOVE this music.

Marlene Deitrich was the premier wartime pin up and sweetheart during the war. The comments on the other D-Day sweethearts video's are disabled I'm not suprised Vera Lynn was hardly anyones pin up, and the Germans had the best uniforms.
