This vague "getting attacked by police thing" is dumb, we should be very clear in saying one attack is getting shot in the head, while the other is a Twitter fight. Those two are very different and using the phrase "getting attacked by police" to make them sound similar is idiotic

josh m Correct me if I'm wrong. I was under the impression that back when the whole Ferguson incident happened, police actually attacked peaceful protestors who held their hands up. Because it was a show of solidarity with Michael Brown. When I say I attacked I mean with rubber bullets, tear gaz and batons.

What’s kinda funny too is these people who marched on the capital a few days ago compared their situation to BLM. They said arrest them and stuff well that’s like comparing the loss of an election to the oppression of African Americans for oh say 200 years now. They literally compared a loss of an election to slavery and police discrimination. That’s like if your friends grandma dies and you say I feel your pain I just lost a match of call of duty.

Sooo you have a crowd of people saying he did have his hands up and a couple saying he didn't... Yet some how people who WERENT there say it is a "fact" his hands weren't up... Food for thought for those who claim the witnesses statements were too inconsistent so they weren't creditable. Daren Willson said he didn't stand over Mike Browns body but there is a photo of him doing just that. Police chief said in a press conference that Daren didn't know about the robbery. Now he says he did. Daren said he was in fear of being beat to death because of how Mike was hitting him. Even though the photo of Daren after showed light bruising and no swelling. If someone that large is beating you within a inch of your life your whole face should be swollen. But hey the Ferguson police are total more creditable right? Smh...
@Ephraim32
@Ephraim32 9 жыл бұрын
On the other side of the stone we have evidence supporting him and multiple witnesses. We have various witnesses claiming that his hands were up but constantly changed a lot about their statements. You weren't there, yet you believe that his hands were up. So do 99% of the protestors, they claim that his hands were up, the cops all lied, but you all weren't there, you know nothing more than the rest of us.... But yet you still decide what is fact and what isn't....
@SoRealSoReal23
@SoRealSoReal23 9 жыл бұрын
Nathan Bowman I did not decide what is fact or claimed I could. The things I listed were things I SAW. Photos afters the altercation, a photo of Wilson standing over Browns body, and video of the police chief saying Wilson didn't know about the robbery. I don't know more than anyone else viewing from the outside looking in BUT I am not going to selectively ignore things I've SEEN with my OWN EYES. That is my whole point. I want people to think things through more carefully and not just until they find something to their liking.
@SoRealSoReal23

Martin Joyce Let me try to break down the sheer ignorance of your comment. 1. Forensics also says Brown could have been 10 feet away or 50 feet due to no gun powder on Brown. To say you know for sure the armed Wilson was justified in killing the unarmed brown is ridiculous knowing that. Even if there was video was of Brown running towards Wilson the is NO excuse for him to kill an unarmed man. 2. Justice was NOT served. A poorly train officer killed and unarmed man. The protect is much bigger than brown now. It is about EVERY injustice carried out by an officer who pledged to uphold the law. You not only would have to proved Wilson was right but also prove EVERY officer was right in their beating and killing of people unjustly. 3. Stop using Obama as a scapegoat for your failed judgement. Damn, bet if your shoe laces came untied you would blame Obama. You people are sooooo delusional. Obama does NOT have the power you think he has. There is this thing called "Checks and Balances." Look it up. 4. Here is the photo images.dailykos.com/images/117446/large/Tweet_-_Darren_Wilson_standing_over_body_of_Mike_Brown.JPG?1416913038 5. It is in no way ok for people to kill innocent officers or anyone for that matter BUT when people try to get justice the right way and STILL get no tangible results, the will be back lash. In fact we celebrate it every year on the 4th of July.

Martin Rodgers Light bruising on the cheek and lip of a man who pulled a gun on a unarmed man is attempted murder?? An unarmed man protecting himself from an armed man that is stalking him is attempted murder?? LMAO!! 300 lb 6 foot 4 inch man is beating you to death but you don't spill a single drop of our own blood?? Are your really implying that if you are larger than the cop pursuing you, it is ok for him to kill you whether you are armed or not?? What in blue hell does Obama helping housing projects have to do with ANYTHING? Starting to think you believe there are absolutely no other government officials besides Obama. No senators, governors, mayors,or aldermen share any responsibility for anything what so ever...

@xfireflarex 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's that easy. Imagine being in the shoes of the "good/decent" cop. You're in a station surrounded by corrupt officers so if you say anything to Internal Investigations, you're painting a target on the back of your head. You'll lose your job, be harrassed by the other officers until they kill you or you move, and have trouble working in another police department (something which you've had to spend money and time training for). Now imagine if said officer has a family. They'll be put in danger as well and it'll cost even more to move homes. I can't imagine people working for small paychecks like that to be able to move on a whim, especially with a family in tow. I know they signed up for this but you have to realize if the good officers squeak in a corrupted department, they're essentially hanging themselves.

Yes. However, the problem is you only hear about the cases of brutality. No one hears about the genuine officers who are just people who want to help others. That doesn't always make for a good story There are those who fight against gun laws, even ones that should be a given. While at the same time they complain about violence and cut the budget of the police force. Granted not everyone is like that, but it does exist.

Although I had thought about this, it wasn't until a conversation I had with my Sociology Professor that I really considered the importance of the age factor, and the role that it plays. By comparison to European countries the United States is in many respects a child. At times I feel as though we are in the midst of the terrible two's. Other times we appear to be rebellious teenagers.

The problem with the Brown case is that the many "witnesses" were not honest to begin with. How do you expect a fair trial when so many "witnesses" lied and were not fair themselves. The officer's "witnesss" were much more consistant that Brown's "witnesses."
@MrTONIUX
@MrTONIUX 9 жыл бұрын
Listen dude, i never claimed i'm an expert at anything, so take it like you want it. I am also not choosing any sides. Conflicting viewpoints can be used in court, however lies cannot. Many witnesses straight out said in folloing investigations that they were not completely honest in their primary reports. I wasn't there and you weren't either, but this mentioned fact coupled with the fact that there was a robbery, and complete disregard and violence towards authority defenitely did'nt help the Brown 'case'.

lowlypeasant I'm black and I have no sympathy for both, brown shouldn't have robbed the store and showed aggression, garner shouldn't have initially started resisting. Had both of them had a tiny bit of sense they would still be alive, now were the cops wrong with how they handled it, who knows. As a military personnel that has been in actual combat I can tell you sometimes your body moves faster than your mind, because that split second could be life or death for you.

Black people face economic problems. They are more likely to be poor than even newly immmigrated people, so im empathic to their situation. Even if they have programs helping them, thats not enough, we in Mexico have a hundred programs for people with scare resources but poverty has actually risen in the last decade, the money always finds its way back up. But why? WHY? would you chose Michael Brown as the symbol of the movement. When I watched Jon 1 year ago I wholeheartly believed him, I belived the speakers of the BLM movement when they said Mike was murdered, but evidence dosent back those claims. Darren was justified in the use of force in this instance. So why? WHY? in a sea of cases of police brutality where childerns are bieng killed would you chose the ONE case where the use of violence was justificated.

Our police are not judge, jury and executioner - and nothing Brown did was a death-penalty crime, anyway. The Brown case has to be seen in light of all the other cases very much like it: over-kill by police officers against unarmed civilians who are FAR too often young men with brown skin.

+Jeremy J. Yeah, and he admitted that. Though, that may not have been true, the DOJ report also found that the Ferguson police force have worked with extreme racial bias for years. The shooting was just the straw that broke the camels back. We can ignore facts though, because this one thing was proven wrong.

I like the idea of a big national group pulling a symbol like this! ...just not a football team during a game. Your job is to play and entertain, not to have a sociopolitical viewpoint on showcase. From the moment you're on the bus to the stadium to the moment the post-game conference is over, you're on the clock. If you guys wanted to make a symbol, fine, get together OUTSIDE of the stadium and do it. That would mean you actually had the balls to say something, away from security.

Alexander Talm Why is this a problem? It's not like they interfered with the game, did they? I mean, it was three seconds of.. possibly signaling their future touch downs.

Alexander Talm Not quite sure what your point is. You mean that sending a social message is something one should do solely in their free time? I could understand if they stopped the game to go to a protest but they just walked in.

+Alexander Talm (PSYC101) Who cares if they are on the clock? It's Corporate Free Speech then. As long as they had approval of the team manager, there is no issue here. And considering that they seemed to have arranged for everyone to do it, I'm sure they ran it by the manager

I'm finally logging back in and I'm realizing my original post comes across as really douchey. Sorry guys, that wasn't my intention. No, my main point is that when an employee is working for a higher group, the higher group can take issue with what the employees do on their time. Do I agree in this situation that the owner/manager should be upset with the players? No, they're just taking a stand in a very public fashion and I applaud them. Do I understand the rationale behind it? Yes. And everyone who reads this past this point, completely disregard the "away from security" bit, VIOLENCE IS NEVER AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE TO VOCAL PROTEST. Again, sorry everybody for my assholishness.
