Kalpasar Dam is a Mega Dam in India supposed to Divide sea in India, but in Incomplete after 46 years. so whats the deal with kalpasar project and its current progress update lets see
The Kalpasar Project or the Gulf of Khambhat Development Project envisages building a 30 km dam across the Gulf of Khambat in India for establishing a huge fresh water coastal reservoir for irrigation, drinking and industrial purposes.The project with 30 km sea dam will have the capacity to store 10,000 million cubic meters fresh water, equating to 25% of Gujarat’s average annual rainwater flow, from the rivers like Narmada, Mahi, Dhadhar, Sabarmati, Limbdi-Bhagovo, and two other minor rivers. A 10 lane road link will also be set up over the dam, greatly reducing the distance between Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The project, which will create world's largest freshwater lake in marine environment, will cost INR90,000 crore or US$12.75 billion (2015-16 estimates with 8% annual inflation) excluding the cost of tidal power plant. Project entails construction of the main "Kalpasar dam" across Gulf of Khambat and another Bhadbhut barrage on Narmada river, as well as a canal connecting the two.
More than 30,000 MCM of water from Narmada river alone flows out annually into the sea due to the lack of storage capacity and dams, thus experts have been calling for a review of Gujarat's Water Policy to expedite the Kalpasar project

NGO's are very good at manipulating the narrative. Most of the time They are paid by foreign actors to halt development. Abhi chardham road project me bhi yahi hua hai.

Singapore has done similar project now they are having the benefit of drinking water. But in India environmentalist and NGOs have problem with development. And ironically most of these NGOs live a lavish lifestyle but dont want development of poor people by these projects.

In addition to dam, if they include transport system (rail, road) also associated with dam and harness wind and solar energy throughout the length of the dam this would turn out to be a multi utility project that caters to the future needs

The present state governments and central government’s focus is on sauni Yojana of Saurashtra bypassing the Kalpsar project. However Sardar Sarovar Dam combined with kalpsar and Sauni Yojana will totally change the landscape of Gujarat and it will be more develop and prosperous than any european country. Rajasthan’s water shortage problem will also be addressed to a great extent. 90,000 crore is not an impossible amount. Such projects should be taken on war footing priority.

I liked their earlier presentations. This guy uses a lot of english words which he doesn't even pronounce properly. Seems very unproffesional. He should use Hindi words for most things (for example, he could have said, इच्छा/आकांक्षाए instead of wishes and completely massacring its pronunciation) if he wants to continue making his videos in Hindi. Point being, whichever language you choose as your medium, try to keep it as pure as possible. Otherwise, it just doesn't feel nice.

They don't pose that much of a threat IMO. Contamination is an issue but river deltas are already dirty enough to be non drinkable so Doesn't makes much of a difference.

Dam is not very tall to be affected by tsunami, and it's load will be obviously considered while designing the dam

What about the silt that those rivers deposit in the sea? That silt is extremely important as it replenishes the nearby beaches. This dam will obstruct all those silt.

Silt formation wont get impacted. Because the dam is not encroaching on the river's teritorial basin area.

Silt will deposit near dam, or can be cleared when needed easily just by blowing down reservoir water at low level

For that already barrage constructed on sabarmati-vasna berrage, narmada- Bhadbhut, mahi -sandhrot berrage. Due to this solution, expected life of dam increase by 10 times.

Can anyone imagine what will happen to the salinity of the sea immediately downstream of this dam? Bout to increase the salt content since the fresh water into that sea will be stopped or decrease. This is bound to change the engoirment in all the areas south if the dam. Especially in all the coastal areas in south Gujrat and North Maharashtra right up to Mumbai. I hope these factors are taken into account.

Yes, dost. But you realize the salinity of the sea immediately downstream will be exactly the same as the salinity of the sea everywhere around the earth. Because sea water normally doesn't get fed with river water and figures out a way to establish its own salinity. Yes, the species of animals and sea creatures that lived on that diluted salinity will probably perish. But they will also get replaced by other sea creatures and animals that live in normal salinity sea. There is nothing freakishly abnormal about the environmental impact due to this.

Salinity won't be a problem cause the salinity will be as much as any other regions of the world where river doesn't meet the sea. We should not disturb the delta area. The reason is complicated eco system in delta area that uses fresh water as well as saline water as their habitat which comes naturally to them. Making dam in delta area will split fresh water and saline water affecting eco system. Some saline water species use fresh water for multiplcation but need saline water when their offspring grow up. These varieties are the only source of livlihood for the people in that area.

As per your kind information sea level is increasing and one day mumbai will sink and in past most busiest port is khambhat port and it took 2 hours from waterway to reach Mumbai ,but i think it's not good idea there are many fisher who do fishing there and there will lots of waste will create while construction and do you know the sewage waste is also go there so then what about sewage?

I agree to every 'pro' mentioned in this project. But it will have very very hard hitting implications on marine life and biodiversity of the Gulf of Khambhat. Which in turn will hit hard the fishermen too.
