The Vision of Escaflowne is a Japanese anime television series created by Shōji Kawamori and Sunrise Studios and directed by Kazuki Akane. It premiered in Japan on April 2, 1996 on TV Tokyo, and the final episode aired on September 24, 1996. Sony's anime satellite channel, Animax also aired the series, both in Japan and on its various worldwide networks, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. The series was licensed for Region 1 release by Bandai Entertainment. It is currently licensed by Crunchyroll.

Look at the beautiful animations. Movement in every scene. We can't find anything like this in "modern" anime. Just freezed frames, no movement. Only the mouth moves, combined with silly dialog and grotesque face expressions. Just awful.

Something I love about Escaflowne - it never hides the human cost of war. Even when they're "villains", they're still people feeling pain, feeling fear, and struggling to avoid death.

Sounds a lot like Mobile suit gundam. Escaflowne's music along with brutal battles felt different. It didn't glorify it. I felt disturbed on it when I was a kid.

Buddy, you only scratched the surface with that analysis. The whole deal with Allen's sister shows how certain characters are willing to discard their humanity for progress. Folken has been prejudiced against his whole life for being half-Atlantean and joined the empire that destroys his home and kills his father just for the promise of creating a world where that prejudice would no longer exist for his brother and got swept up in Isaac Newton's power mad struggle for godhood.

Can I just say this. I love the weight behind everything, you can feel the heavy steps coming from each step these things make as well as the shacking of the earth when they land from a jump. The best example of this weight and force is the sword dual. I haven't watched recent anime but what separates this from other sword fights in anime and maybe other fights in general. Is that it's not trying to be flashy, there's no energy blast, no special skills, no crazy flashiness to it. Cause it's two mechs sword fighting, that's the craziness and what adds to it is the camera work. It's utterly beautiful.

This was probably one of the first anime I ever watched alongside Sailor Moon and Pokemon back when I was in elementary school. I loved it so much. Dance of Curse has been one of my favorite musical pieces for almost 17 years now. I have the movie, I wish I had the series.

With Isekai being such a popular genre in its own right and Escaflowne being a very unique mecha fantasy series, I would love to see this rebooted and animated by one of the big studios. These designs would look so incredible with a fresh remake.

Yeah but it needs to be done right. Right now English localizations are a political mess. We benefited so much from it being a niche genre few knew or cared about it when this came out.

I'm old enough to remember when Escaflowne was on Fox Kids and pokemon pretended onigiri was donuts - no one alive then would complain about localization being worse now than 20-30 years ago, except people who really need to touch more grass or think hearing about feminism is worse than getting Covid.

La música fue muy buena, y eso sería lo más destacable de Escaflowne. Pero la verdad es no tuvo ningún combate ni momento memorable y su trama dejó bastante que desear, sobre todo el final que es un basura.

@@edodibujos en cuanto a lo del combate te lo puedo discutir,en mi opinión lo más memorable fue cuando ban se hace un 1 vs 8. Pero en el final si estoy de acuerdo,aunque se dice que si final originalmente era en el episodio 30 que no hicieron por tiempo,aún así no abarcaron mucho en otras tramas ya que se concentraron mucho en la sub trama de Allen

@@itsdeltachief7303 la trama se enfoca mucho en el culebrón romántico, y la verdad es que para mi eso ya me genera muy poco interés en una historia. La batalla de Van 1 contra 8 no es gran cosa tampoco. Es correcta y cumple, pero memorable no es.

Este sound track es ÉPICO! Pero la serie pudo ser mejor. No me gustó el triangulo amoroso de Van... tampoco el objetivo del villano principal. Y lo de Dilandau...al final era la hermana perdida del rubio... 😂... se me cayó como villano.

@@amelia6871 tal cual, tremendo potencial de anime y si si lo explota pero pudo ser mucho mucho mejor. A mí si me gustó el espejismo de amor que tenía Hitomi por Allen y como paulatinamente sus verdaderos sentimientos salieron a la luz, pero ese horrible final!!! Por cierto, Dilandu era un excelente villano, tampoco me gustó que haya sido la hermanita.

@@juntorres2126 así es, no hace mucho volví a ver la película y aunque mejora algunos aspectos, como los diseños y que deja de lado todo lo irrelevante, igualmente le falta mucho para estar bien. Casi no tiene desarrollo de personajes y como que ocurren cosas sin mucha construcción narrativa. Las armaduras gigantes casi no aparecen y hay una sola batalla entre ellas, que tampoco es la gran cosa.

i kinda wondered what woud those mech knights think of modern tank and its crew? if you take in account tanks thermal sights,night vision sights, low siluete and ability to fire accuretly on the move?
