I have valium prescribed for my 7 year klonopin addiction but the meds dont help. The best way is to get off before you get stuck because now I'm on oxy for all the withdrawal which is messed up and it just gets worse from there trust me anyone who reads this dont let the drugs take away your personality. I’ve been on Alprazolam for 6+ months now. I never exceed 2mg per day, nor do I feel the need to. Tolerance may develop to the sedative and muscle relaxant effects, but tolerance to its anxiolytic effects have never occurred (supported by literature). Yes my memory is slightly impaired when I take full dose of 2mg per day, but otherwise my cognitive functions remain perfectly intact. Before this drug, I would suffer intense bouts of anxiety that were resistant to all other treatments. Alprazolam remains the only drug that silences it. So I’ll gladly accept the risk of long term cognitive issues - as of yet, I haven’t noticed anything of concern. In fact, the anxiety I suffered from prior to treatment was likely impairing my cognitive ability due to its severity. The only thing I need to make sure of is to never run out, because as rightly pointed out, the withdrawal effects are devastating.

lars I took klonapin for 40 yrs. Dosage usually .5mg. I weened very slowly and have been off it 20 months. I am so much better now. Still working through some anxiety, rushing thoughts, some depression. Exercise helps. I also drank but have given that up too. I don’t want any harmful chemicals in my body. I take one day at a time, pray and live in the moment. All the best to you. Take care of yourself. The brain can heal.

@@brendamosher8239 Thanks. My will power is strong. I found that intense exercise helped a great deal with mitigating the tension from doing those 50% tapers. I can give up the beer, but I never knew the hell I would go through with Xanax. I would rearrange my work schedule and make the 9 hour commute to see this doctor, I work in the healthcare field as well, but in lower capacity. Just as long as I can sleep and get through an 8-12 hour work day, I will consider myself lucky. Not ,many are even aware of the slow taper method. I am thinking I will have to do this alone, so am buying a milligram scale and going to taper off slowly over time. I am also in the process of contacting one who uses acupuncture and following anything and everything this doctor recommends.

My brothers wife of 20 years was on them for about 3-4 years. She started showing signs of things like nodding off in her plate of food on Thanksgiving, then a couple years later she nodded off driving (her 11 year old daughter in the car) had a really bad wreck, the hospital found high levels of Xanax in her system and she was put on probation. Then the next February, not even a year later on Valentine's Day my brother found her dead at 40 in they're bathroom. Heart attack. Her life was over when her daughter was just 12 years old. She was a good wife and mother, just addicted to Xanax. For everyone who abuse's that drug, try and get some control over it. I have addiction issues myself so I'm not talking about her, I just want people to understand what can happen with that particular drug

Thanks for your video. It was very helpful. I wish we had seen this a year ago. My wife is currently suffering from benzo withdrawal. She has been off of the drugs for 4 months after a slow taper and is very slowly showing signs of recovery. If we had taken the doctor's advice and upped the dosage, I believe that she would be dead.
@filippocorti6760
@filippocorti6760 3 жыл бұрын
Elaborating may help others here. Its unlikely she would have died continuing it and even upping the dose. If she was off the benzo for 4 months and recovery is very slow, the taper was probably too fast. I know someone who took Xanax for 20+ years and went off it over a period of 6 months. Wasn't rough.

Thanks for giving a very clear rundown of how benzodiazapines effect the brain. I have been taking .5 mg of clonazepam a day (i chose a low dose because i knew the withdrawl was horrific) and i have heard that it can cause permanent brain damage, but i found it hard to find a clear explaination about it. I have a very bad anxiety disorder but i think i am going to lower my dose even more or maybe stop. It does work for anxiety but the tolerance makes it less worth it then worth it especially if im risking permanent negative effects

Who the fk are you to know everything? Grow a freaking heart. Ppl have been lied to about chemical imbalance. Psychiatry targets our foster children, pregnant Mothers and then addicted baby's and hormonal teenagers often w/o parental consent. Our military who die more by suicide than active duty. Almost any info you can find on mass shootings involves psychiatric drugs or ppl coming off of them. As of covid ppl are waiting for their psychiatric drugs and the prime target is 20 and under. Of course. Everyone thinks they can take a pill to be happy. The Xanax sure seemed to save me for a time. I was able to attend my children's school functions and church w/o sweating, coughing or choking. Saying stupid things that I'd try to amend only to make it worse. The seroquel I would have never taken but my psych Dr caught me off guard one day after my son had left home to the military. I guess you go to a nut Dr long enough they're going to catch you on an off day as they do. Seducers of our souls. They damage and destroy our brains and I've spoken with too many who have been harmed back when side effects were not discussed. We were the experiment. Operation paperclip. It used to be that US Customs would allow the import of a 90 day benzo supply (this stopped in 1999) Very easy if you live in a border state to develop a habit that would be very hard to do without bringing them in from outside. 5+ mg clonazepam daily is hard to stop, but I did it. Like and subbed. Your video is different in that it is so objective (just the facts) . I wish other creators would use some of your objectively. I ask. What was the highest age for a benzo recovery test patient? As the result of a hospital accident I contracted cervical osteomyelitis. I needed some radical debridements to the back of my neck. OK,now a 58 yr old (this was 8 years ago) disabled chronic pain patient. My plate is full of benzos,opiates and muscle relaxers,and antibiotics.

How worried should I be if I have been abusing Xanax for the last 3 months 2mg to 2.5mg a day. What should I expect when I stop should I taper or have I dug myself to deep of a hole for cold turkey
@Notchworld
@Notchworld 4 жыл бұрын
Bryce Nunweiler I went through this same thing except I was abusing that same dosage probably 6-8 months. This was last year. I started by tapering off slowly and then eventually went cold turkey for the last of it. I had some serious depression and horrible dreams for about 2 weeks. But it wasn’t debilitating. I could still function in every day life, it’s just my anxiety and overall mental health was on edge to the max. After the initial withdrawals ended, I went through about of month and a half of bland depression. Just unfocused, zombie sadness. So I went to the doctor and got on Zoloft (anti depressant). This helped me a whole lot with the process. After about 3 months on zoloft, I tapered off that and now I feel 100% better. My experimental phase was very ugly! I’m glad I got out of it free of addiction and learned my lesson. I’m not going to say that Im done with Xanax forever. It helps me in my career if I use it the right way. But now that I know how to get off of it when I use it daily, I can manage it better. The trick is to taper off slowly until you’re all the way off, spend about 2 or 3 weeks completely off and then hop on an antidepressant for two or three months. Then taper off that and you are golden. Your brain chemicals will be re-balanced and you’re back to normal.

Bryce Nunweiler Please Google and read the Ashton Manual it’s free online and you can print out a copy to bring to your doctor, most doctors are uneducated on tapering patients off! Dr. Heather Ashton is one of the worlds experts on benzodiazepine withdrawal, she suggests switching to Valium to taper as it has a longer half life. Paul Cunack has a Utube site that explains the taper easily and is very informative. BenzoBuddies is a online support forum that you can read and ask questions and also is very informative! Good luck 🍀 You can do this!! 👍

Why did you throw Etizolam on the poster board, just due to the fact it's a Thienobenzodiazepine... the difference between benzodiazepine and thienobenzodiazepine is that benzodiazepine is benzodiazepine while thienobenzodiazepine is (chemistry) a heterocyclic compound containing a diazepine ring fused to a thiophene ring and a benzene ring.

I switched to herbal for a natural sedative and it help me to fall asleep. I don't understand how doctor can prescribed this drug so easily.

Regarding withdrawal, yes, I experienced it, but lasted no more than a week, just after the last dose I had (0.125 mg my last pill), I experienced a weird sensation after 32 hours, I was sleeping and suddenly I woke up feeling weird (due to Alprazolam low half-life in the body), then I experienced that weird sensation for 3 days, then, I felt sleepy for 4 days (I think my GABA was being restored), after that sleepy sensation, my sleeping habits were back to normal.

I used to take up to 30mg alprazolam(Xanax) a day with alcohol because I have been suffering from terrible depression. Yes I was terribly addicted and one day I decided to just stop and sober up so I stopped cold turkey. And on the 5th day I had a terrible seizure and I thankfully was outside and people saw me passed out and called the emergency as I couldn't remember where I was and what day it was (I live alone). I was extremely hypertensive and agitated and In the ER they put me on Chlordiazepoxide(Librium) 40mg with an 8h interval, slowly tapering down to zero. And I kid you not, after the treatment, I still had rebound anxiety altho in much less intensity but still the feeling of jittery and anxious after the Chlordiazepoxide weared off. So yeah withdrawal from benzos is a b*tch. Always talk to your GP or at least cut it down slowly if you don't want to die while sobering up.

Alzheimer's patients (like my Mom) in some cases developed alzheimers from stress and insomnia, two things benzos fix extremely well. I watched her pace around the house with anxiety and get little sleep for a very long time. I believe that's what caused her alz. But benzos aren't prescribed to patients who have alzheimers already, because it could make it worse and progress faster. She is getting a lot of THC and CBD

If you have been taking them regularly, for years, you're gonna have a problem that lasts 2 years or more if you try to come off of them, which has been a real problem for my Grandmama who's almost 80...she has had back problems for decades, but has managed to get through all the surgeries over the years with nothing but hydrocodone, (impressive if you know pain...and she's been on 7.5's, the medium strength ones, but because she was on a benzo, and because of a squish on dr.s, she had to make the decision to either off the clonazepam (Klonopin) she had been taking for a LONG time with the hydrocodone, and had NO problems due to those being in her system...she doesn't drink or take anything else that would cause a problem) she could stop taking those, OR stop taking her pain medication altogether. So she though, "I don't need those, they just help me sleep"To her, not knowing how bad withdrawal from long term, dr prescribed (in fact, she took less than prescribed of the klonopin)......Now she's afraid to leave the house and barely leaves the bed. And I don't know, but I bet she's taking much stronger painkillers. I understand that we don't need new long term benzo-dependent patients, but for the ones who it's been ok, let's KEEP that Hippocratic Oath...long term benzos are a mistake (for the most part), but to those already dependent on them just to live, or just for the will to live, DO NO HARM.

I TOTALLY agree, don't take anything everyday, unless you're willing to take a chance on needing it the rest of your life. That little sentence can be applied in SO many ways. Don't eat if you're not willing to have to everyday. lol, I kid, first sentence is straight up truf.

Ive Been on 8mg a day for 15 years, I assume I don't have a choice of not taking them. Because my intelligence is still very high, and my memory is sharp as a knife.

@@devonnichole6373 Thank you.. It's a real struggle. This life can be so mean. Just always think and know your not alone. I believe you can beat this also. I lost so much in so many ways to addiction I had to fined a way out. I beat it because I was sad. I still am in many ways but I move forward with reality ever present. Good luck my friend..

Its way better to be addicted than having to deal with serious mental issues.

Honestly I agree because if people were left without drugs that work with serious mental problems the person will probably just commit suicide. And I would personally rather die from an accidental overdose or seizure than feel miserable for almost my whole life only to end my life.
