This band suits Anette much better than Nightwish did, she can be herself here. In Nightwish it was big shoes (or quickie boots) to fill when Tarja left. Also Janii is one of the best power metal guitarists. Sonata Arctica sounded much more special when he was still in band (check some older pre-2006 videos). His own band Cain’s Offering is fantastic too.

TheAnriii Yeah many songs were not good for Anette. Tuomas made two albums for her. But of corse Floor Jansen is the best if compare to all songs.

NW with Anette was the right NW -- Tarja and Floor, they both ruined NW's first and last albums with their voices that do not have a pretty timbre like Anette's!

This album was probably the biggest surprise of 2017. Her voice is perfect for this kinda metal with some pop elements. Dead To Me is another great song.

This song is one of the many songs that were written about me -- my protector Chip wrote the lyrics to both Ghost And The Reaper and My Sweet Mystery and gave them to the band to reIease as their own to keep his anonymity as a secret agent, while Anette is a type of agent and she was selected for her voice (that matches mine the most) to be the 2nd NW singer and sing the songs Eva and Cadence Of Her Last Breath that are about me and the other songs on DPP and Imaginaerum that contain lots of references to me...

The songs God Is A 'Woman' and Dark Horse and I Am Not A Woman, I Am A God are about me, and the songs Eva and Cadence Of Her Last Breath by Nightwish, Achingly Beautiful by CoF, Not Human Kind by Eyes of Eden, The Bee by Amorphis, and Medusa by Tarja are also some of the songs that were written about me, while the ClA also made sure to include subtle clues and references to me in many other songs as well! The songs Ghost And The Reaper and My Sweet Mystery by The Dark Element and the song Infinity are about me and my protector Chip. The songs Diamonds and Alpha & Omega by Swarm (and other similar lyrics) are based on my story with my protectors, and the song The Dark Element includes references to me, and the songs When It All Comes Down and Silver Bride are inspired by me/my story, while the songs Firesign and Paradise Of The Architect are about me and my protectors and the new system...

The new Nightwish lyric video for the song Pan also includes subtle symbolism about me, where they used Chess symbolism to show my importance (where the Queen element representing me destroys the pawns) and they also made a reference to me (The Sea Lady) and to the Total Planetary Reset ('Reset the world') which is to happen after the system is replaced, which means the entire planet is to be restructured/reset based on my projects.

Jani (the guitarist, formerly of Sonata Arctica) is quite possibly one of the hardest working guys in the industry. He's literally everywhere these days. That being said, I was a huge fan of Anette in Nightwish and absolutely love that she's back in full force with The Dark Element. Great reaction as always! Please, please, please check out Pagan's Mind - Through Osiris' Eyes (live at ProgPower USA) and Grave Digger - Twilight of the Gods.

You REALLY should try Last Ride Of The Day! A fan favorite from "Anette Era" in Nightwish. If you want something heavier, listen to Scaretale. It's just mindblowing and one of their best songs.

Absolutely love this song & band! Jani Liimatainen (the guitarist) is imo one of the best producers/songwriters atm in the biz /,,/ You should definitely check out The Best Of Times music video from Cain's Offering, it's his other band featuring the singer of Stratovarius

Cain's Offering is awesome. Although I have to say I would prefer for them to react to either A Night to Forget or More Than Friends. The Best of Times is not one of their best songs in my opinion, so don't get triggered. However I'm happy with any song just so Cain's Offering gets more exposure.

Before that he was a founding member and guitarist of Sonata Arctica. He was on their first 4 albums, which imo were their best albums.

I do not get why people hate her so much...I mean ... I know right, as ultra Nightwish fan I saw NW 5 times with her and she maybey is not as good live as Floor or Tarja, but still she bring new and unique sound and style to the band. And Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are great albums. :) if you want check NW with Anette, I sudgest Cadence of her last Breath, Whoever Brings the Night or for example The Escapist, thise are my random choises from DPP album which was her 1st album with NW :)

While I absolutely agree with you on Anette, I'd rather have A&P react to songs from the Imaginaereum album. because not only is this an absolutely awesome album, but I also feel that the soings there lend much better to Anette's voice than the songs of DDP, whose songs at least partly sound as if still written with Tarja as singer in mind.. And yeah I think that she was being treated totally unfair after Tarja's departure. She had nothing to do with the disaster that had happened between Tarja and the band, but still she got all the shit for it.

You are right :) Imaginaerum is for sure better for Anette :) These songs I choose before were just random thoughts, because they are so cool songs :D so I add songs: Scaretale, Ghost River, Storytime, The Crow, The Owl And The Dove, Turn Loose The Mermaids.....cand choose just 2 of them :D :D :D

Well there 's a vid from their show at Montreux 2012 and no matter what the haters may say, Anette totally hit the ball out of the park at this concert. I would have loved to have been there and she even nailed the older Tarja songs. Here's the thing though. She obviously didn't sing the songs Tarja-style, so if that's what was your expectation coming to a concert, you probably would have been disappointed. Still to say she couldn't perform live is absolute rubbish. I find it really amusing (and dumb like hell) how disgruntled Nightwish fans from the Tarja-era accuse Anette-era Nightwish of going pop and celebrating new Nightwish with Floor, when in fact, their most "poppish" album up-to-date is Endless Forms most Beautiful. And just so you know, there are a lot of metal fans out there that listen to more extreme metal and think the same about the whole genre of Symphonic Metal (which in my mind, is equally dumb, but then I stopped believing a long time before that metal fans are more tolerant than fans of other styles of music). I would so love if everyone just would start enjoying the music they like instead of wasting their time hating on other peoples' preferences. Which is something, by the way, everyone should know that regularly watches A&P celebrating the different genres and styles that Metal has to offer.

Omg I never clicked on a video so fast! I love this band and their album is AMAZING! They have another video Sweet Mystery which I highly recommend. Also Dead to Me which has a lyric video. If you listen to Nightwish Imaginearum you’ll hear how Anettes voice fits the album like a hand in a glove as you say! It’s their best album by far. Oh and Jani(guitarist and founder of band) plays the keyboards too.

Anette is under rated... she has pop voice but when it fits the music the results are really great. Please react to The Escapist by Nightwish. It is perhaps their best Anette song.

Great to see you reacting to this band, nice video :) Their whole album is brilliant, take a look at My sweet mystery or Dead to me, some brilliant stuff there. The guitarist is ex Sonata Arctica (another band you should really dive into more) and he has another band too, called Cain’s Offering. Bit more powermetal-oriented and with the Stratovarius guy singing, helluva great band that too.

So, growing up, I had two guitarists that stood out to me and really influenced my taste in music for the rest of my life with their amazing melodic guitar playing: first was Jesper Stromblad from In Flames when i was heavily into Melodic Death Metal, but after that, Jani Liimatainen when he played in Sonata Arctica took it even further. Jani is not only a stellar guitar player, but an excellent songwriter and lyricist as well. With this project, the record label approached Jani, asking him to produce and write an album for them with Anette Olzon. The bass and drums are handled by his bandmates in his other active supergroup (with Timo Kotipelto of Stratovarius) Cain's Offering. Jani also does the programming and synth. I always wanted some sort of collab between members of Nightwish and Sonata Arctica, and this is a sort of fulfillment of that wish. I liked this album alot, though I wish it better showcased his guitar prowess. My Dark Element recommendation is the first video they released from the album "My Sweet Mystery", because it sounds more like Nightwish in a way and showcases some of Jani Liimatainen's guitar talent more.

I think her voice is more suited to faster songs, not that she doesn't fit on the others, but on those songs we can find better voices then her's but in faster songs I really enjoy her voice, like she shows here or the songs I heard from Pain

Annette's performance here is much closer in this song to what She did in Nightwish than on the Swallow the Sun song. One female singer you haven't checked so far and I think you should os Liv Kristine, she used to sing In Theatre of Tragedy, Leaves' Eyes and The Sirens (with Anneke van Giersbergen and Kari Rueslatten). Besides her solo carreer she's the new Midnattsol singer.

What a nice surprise! Did not even know that Anette and Jani was collaborating on an album. I looked it up on Spotify, they have released the whole album right now. So there are more songs to react to if you want to see more by the band haha :) As I have said before, would love to see you react to "Lost to apathy" by Dark Tranquillity. And would also love to see you react to the swedish doom metal band "Draconian" for the first time, they are amazing and takes you on a journey. I allready know that you will love them for sure (has gotten to know your taste of metal by now :D). Would love to see your reaction on "Death, come near me" by them. Cheers, William

Awesome song. And you're finally thinking about trying Nightwish with her! :D She may be technically their worst singer but she has the best songs IMO. Some suggestions: -Dark Element - Last Good Day. Their best song IMO, even better than this one. -Nightwish - Sahara. It has the same singer (Obviously :D) My favorite song from Dark Passion Play if you don't count Poet and the Pendulum which is my favorite song from Nightwish. Really epic and kinda spooky too. -Cain's Offering - Antemortem. It has the same guitarist / composer as this song, and is, just like this one, a very good mix of symphonic metal and power metal. -Sonata Arctica - The Cage. It, once again, has the same guitarist as this song, though this time he's not the composer. Not quite as symphonic as this one or the songs mentioned above, but really catchy and good regardless. -Blind Guardian - And then there was Silence. This one has nothing in common with any of the above except for being power metal and having loads of symphonic elements, but I'll still post it as it's one of the greatest masterpieces in power metal I've ever heard.

There is no pro shot live performances of Anette with Nightwish unfortunately. I thankfully got to see them with her and she was flawless and I loved it just as much as when I saw them with Floor if not more. The vids on you tube are of poor quality and make her look not very good. Perhaps check out the videos Amaranth and Storytime. Also The crow the owl and the dove which is one of my faves but video is animated but still worth checking out. Thanks.

I love this song ! This band is really good. This band is really good for Anette. I like Anette and she did really good on Dark Passion Play and Imaginarium(sp) albums.(her 2 albums with Nightwish) It was the live shows that she did not do well, in my opinion. Great reaction!

I'm glad Annette did this Dark Element metal project. She needed it for catharsis and self-justification. Although her style was not the best fit for Nightwish, she definitely did not deserve the bad vibes and rejection she received from a large number of fans. Dark Element is a superb band and she does an awesome job! Good for her! I hope she has a lot of future success with DE.

Fantastic guys!!! Yeah Annette is amazing, people really like to take the piss. She did great in Nightwish considering the time and situation when she joined the band. And man, Jani is still fucking brilliant! As a die hard fan from Nightwish (for 20 years already) and Sonata Arctica (for almost 10 years) I love this band, they are brilliant together!

This is a pretty good CD, and the music is perfect for Anette, even though it wasn't written specifically for her. I've never had an issue with Anette's studio work, so I was quick to get this one based on the couple of vids they put out prior to the release. Honestly, her last solo CD was ok too, but much more poppy/softer than this. As for other songs by them...you know you can search KZfaq, right? :)

When NW fired ex-singer Tarja Turunen it was big news in Finland. It was very dramatic show. Then they had public search for new singer. They got maybe hundred candidates but then hired unkown Anette from Sweden. It was shock for NW fans but it helped get the band more known becose it was easier play some NW newer songs on radio and music tvs abroad.

Last ride of the day with Nightwish and i think it is time for Lifetime of war with Sabaton. You can do all songs from The dark element album, it is fantastic. Up the irona.

It's unfortunate that you couldn't upload "Cathedral Walls" :( Would've loved watching you guys reacting to this masterpiece of a song, but at least you liked it and that's most important^^ Hopefully you can find a song from Swallow the Sun that isn't copyright blocked, maybe "Heartstrings Shattering" (which is a lyric video) from their last album since that one is Century Media while "Cathedral Walls" was Spinefarm Records or maybe some audio versions like "New Moon" or "Falling World" (my favourite two Swallow the Sun songs) since the guys who uploaded those songs years ago don't seem to have gotten a copyright strike, otherwise those songs wouldn't be on youtube, right? :)

Never realised that this song didn't even have a guitar solo for Jani, though if he composed about everything then maybe he doesn't have the need to play solos in every song :D Good moment to ask you to react to more songs from older Sonata Arctica when Jani was still the guitarist in that band, My Selene is my favourite track but I'm sure you've gotten many, many other good recommendations too! And yes, Anette is a great singer and I've always liked her voice but she was the least-best singer in Nightwish if you're looking from purely technical know-how. Nonetheless Dark Passion Play with Anette is still my favourite Nightwish album and The Escapist my favourite song.

About time i told you ages ago about this band didnt i😉😉😉😉😉Seriously though the entire alvum is amazing every song is same standard as this one.The title dark element is my favourite but you should also check out My Sweet Mystery and Dead to Me.Now time for my other recommendation Sharpen the Guillotine by Angelus Apatrida you can thank me later😂😗😉

I thought I knew that woman in the thumbnail. This band started in 2016 I believe? Seems decent enough. Good for her, but can't say it wasn't for the best considering how Floor is making Nightwish shine like never before in a long time.

Awesome stuff indeed, have the feeling this album slipped under the radar for a lot of people last year. Well worth picking up! Really enjoyed her work with Nightwish as well, though it definitely took a lot of people an album+ to get used to her vocals after Tarja was booted from the band. Both Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are excellent albums though, with Sahara, Storytime and Scaretale most likely being her best songs. If you are relly interesting in Symphonic metal bands try to listen to THERION. For me, one of its best songs is VIA NOCTURNA, I bet you that you will be surprise on how classical music can be combined with heavy metal stuff.
