"You trusted me and I failed you " Heart wrenching scene but it makes the payoff at the end even better. Alfred didnt fail anyone. Their son got to move on with his life and live happily in the end. Glad Alfred got to see that Bruce actually did hear him. Greatest trilogy ever.

Honestly, my big problem with that scene is that Bruce would have sacrificed himself to save all of Gotham. He would not have died needlessly as Alfred thought. I really thought Alfred would have understood that.

Alfred still acpt his death and understood it, but ofc, he has the right to be sad since bruce is all he has left.

@@mob1_ If i remember the movie correctly, the autopilot was not working yet as far as the others knew, thats why they thought he had to fly the bomb away himself, so the reveal that the autopilot was fixed meant that he did not need to be in the cockpit, and therefore didnt get caught up in the explosion

I love the fact that Gordon knows Wayne is alive. He knew when he saw the Bat signal fixed. He deserved to know. Just like Fox probably strongly suspected it after they told him the autopilot was in fact fixed. So subtle and beautiful.

I love the cuts at the end between the cafe and Blake exploring the cave. It was so fulfilling that Batman was able to find a worthy successor and Bruce Wayne got to live a peaceful happy life. And the music building up... especially when Blake was surrounded by bats, mirroring the scene in Batman Begins.

I love that the ending focuses on the 4 men who came together to mourn the loss of Bruce Wayne. To the one who needed a new way to fight he left his tools and resources. To the one who honored batman as his friend and ally, he left a way to reach out to his successor. To the one who created his gadgets he left nothing but the knowledge that was already there for him to figure out he was alive. And to the one who was his foundation and supporter every day of his life, he made their dream of seeing him safe and happy come true. Just beautiful writing and direction.

I love how the ending shows that Alfred did the opposite of Fail. He finally succeeded. Bruce is able to live the life he wishes and is happy, he kept his promise to Martha and Thomas.

Probably one of the most iconic endings, just inspirational. I saw this in IMAX with my wife when it came out. Seeing Bruce rise up and overcome and finally have redemption and that clarity to be free was so great. He could finally live a life in happiness and not regret or vengeance for his father and mother. You got the sense that he could finally be happy and enjoy life .

Alfred was a part of that old life, and so Alfred knew that approaching Bruce, even in front of strangers, would have endangered all of that. Sure they were strangers, but Alfred loved Bruce too much to take that risk.

Alfred took care of Bruce Wayne since he was A little boy being with him for all these years Alfred felt like A father figure to him, Then at Fake funeral that was planned by Bruce Wayne Alfred truly believed that Bruce Wayne was dead. So Alfred goes to the place where him and Bruce Wayne used go to for A morning drink as he's getting everything back into order through his wallet, He looks up O. M. G. Alfred's heart came back to life right in front of him there's Bruce Wayne sitting at another table so now Alfred knows the boy who he took care of all his life is OK he's just vacationing for A short while.

When Bruce was gone for many years Alfred kept imagining running into Bruce there, knowing that he had finally retired and found peace.

I grew up in Taiwan, so Robin was not really my legal name. My first English name was Steve I think. My parents really like the Robin character in the 1995 batman movie, and they changed my English name afterward. Imagine my excitement when I was watching this scene in the theatre.

In his own subtle way, Bruce let all his friends know that he is alive. Fox with the software patch, Gordon with the fixed searchlight, Blake with the batcave instructions. But Alfred is the only one who got to see him, making true Alfred's dream/fantasy. It is the perfect ending to the trilogy.

I was going through a divorce at the time. The woman was a narcissist did everything to tear me down. But when this movie came out and i went to see it to get my mind off things. This gave me so much strength just this scene alone. To know that life will always be hard and unforgiving. But we can still rise... up. To strive when it seems to dark to see. To not give up on the world just cause one tries to ruin yours because their's has always been ruined....... you will become what you need to be ... A Dark Knight. .. .. .. .. .. I love the fact that Alfred and Bruce are looking right into the camera during the final shots of the film. Yes, they’re staring at each other and bidding their farewells, but I can’t help but feel that Nolan did this as a way of bidding farewell to the audience simultaneously.

I love Jeffrey wright but Gary Oldman had this frantic energy to him that I just loved, and he was playing Sirius black at the same time and I still struggle to see how they’re the same man, such an amazing actor

Strange, until now I never understood why Oldman touched the Batsignal like that. It finally hit me, Oldman destroyed it at the end of 'The Dark Knight'. It being fixed here, is Bruce his way of secretly telling him he's alive and well. All the important people in his life now know not to worry. Gordon has the Batsignal, Fox has the autopilot patch and Alfred gets the nod.

It’s amazing how deep Christopher Nolan makes these endings. The fact that the autopilot patch comes first, making the viewer confused, and then the Batsignal, and finally Bruce in real life, confirming our suspicion and making us realize each of those scenes was to tell Bruce’s friends that he’s still alive. People will be watching these films in 100 years.

So when he sits down he has no clue that Bruce is alive, how ever many days/weeks/months have passed at this point, and he looks over at a restaurant and sees that Bruce is alive. A normal persons reaction would be instant shock, probably followed by being so overjoyed that they're overwhelmed with tears, with a little bit of anger/confusion as to what is going on. Then they'd rush over to the table to give the person a hug, and touch them and talk to them to make sure they are real and aren't seeing things. This mf just looks over and nods like ''oh, hey there....'' Lmao like wtf?
