The only thing better in Affleck's Batman is his fighting. He moves faster and is more brutal and efficient than Bale's Batman. However, Affleck's performance was no better than Bale's, and the writing for Batman in BvS was complete garbage. Nolan knows how to do a "dark" superhero while maintaining the HERO part of the character, Snyder doesn't and made Bats into a bloodthirsty thug.

Chokwe That may all be true, but the question is, do you want the action scenes to be realistic or do you want them to be entertaining? I think most people would go with the latter. Most action scenes in movies aren't realistic at all, because their point is simply to look cool and be fun to watch.

The world wasn’t ready for a Batman like Ben Affleck’s. Bales Batman was really good in Batman Begins but his performance drifted badly in the other two movies. This trilogy doesn’t need to be re-released. All three made over 2 billion dollars. We’re fine, now it’s Pattinsons turn or maybe Warner Bros. will bring back Affleck permanently besides The Flash.

Totally agree! It wasn't meant to leave a lasting impression like Ledger's Joker did, but I don't think it was trying to - Nolan made sure to leave no Joker reference in the film so it could stand on its own and not leech off the success of TDK! TDKR is my favorite. It's the most heroic of the 3 coz it's not about the costume or villain but a man finally becoming a legend - a symbol of hope for others to rise above their own damnation. It's sad coz comic movies today don't really focus on the HERO part - all fans care about are comic accuracy and special effects. Also It's a concluding chapter and the sad thing is comic characters aren't written to end. This movie gives us a feeling of what that would be like. This is something new and it works excellently, but fanboys don't want the unexpected so.....

Michael Otis You could not have said It any better. A lot of the fans didn't get the underlying story in the movie. The whole movie was about Bruce Wayne journey to find himself some type of happiness. After Rachel died I think he didn't mind dieing and actually somewhat wanted It to happen, but after thrown into the pit like he was when he was a little boy(which he never really recovered from), he finally rose above, took the leap of faith, and started to live and started wanting to live again. To me It was the best of the trilogy and some of the Internet fans that diss It are just hating, they don't actually take the time to try and understand the movie.

Young Rain​​ couldn't agree more. This trilogy really was a Bruce Wayne trilogy when you think about it. It's why it's so relatable and emotional. It's not the Gothic stylised exaggeration of the comics, it's a "what if Batman and his rogues were in our 21st century". If Dark Knight Returns did anything it proved that comic characters aren't set in stone - which is why I pay no mind to fanboys who want comic accuracy. I'm a comic fan and even I can say Nolan's Batman is my favorite. He isn't the 127 martial artist who's the world's greatest detective and can master knot-tying, lipreading, acrobatics all with an IQ of 192! He's just an orphan who never got over his past and is trying to find meaning and purpose - TDKR nails this core element the hardest

His performance is up there with Norman Bates, Alex Delarge and Hannibal Lecter...it's iconic and irreplaceable But here's the thing - I don't think Nolan was trying to outshine TDK! Why do you think there's no reference or mention of Joker in Rises... You could say it was paying respect to Ledger, but I think in Nolan's mind the Joker will always be Ledger. A recast was out of the question as nobody could do that particular reincarnation of the character justice. Hell the events in Rises occur 8 years after TDK - if you ask me Nolan was distancing himself completely from the second film narrative-wise. He just wanted to conclude Bruce Wayne's character arc (the trailer's tagline read "The Concluding Chapter"). This explains the many allusions to Batman Begins in Rises since everything was coming full circle. I think that's what many who disliked Rises didn't get. It should be viewed as a closing chapter of the Dark Knight not as a sequel perse. Bane was the perfect villain for Batman in this film. He and Talia are the actualization of Ra's immortality (this is Nolan's subtle nod since he chose to make his Batman universe grounded in reality)

The Book Nerd I do like Nolan's fighting scenes, I just think that fighting scenes aren't his strengths. I really love the intensity and darkness in the Sewer fight and I think that was perfectioned. Rises starts as a slow build, symbolising the false facade Gotham has thrived under for 8 years.... Gothamites just like the audience wonders when Batman will show up, so that when he DOES show up its worth the wait. The complaint of not enough Batman in Rises is actually a deliberate narrative device. It's more effective that Batman isn't constantly in the story, adding more weight and heft when Bruce dons the cape and cowl. Coz it means something epic or drastic is about to occur.

***** Consider that this film was inspired by A Tale of Two Cities, that concrete does most of the taking up on those IMAX film frames and The Dark Knight had no flashbacks, you'd find it's not really a creative film in terms of story telling. I remember when this 1st came out & I did understand the criticisms but I never disliked this movie. I did have to watch it a few times to let it grow on me in a way I confess. Super hero movies were a major thing & in a way they still are. I just personally think we got a bit spoiled for lack of a better term therefore we ended up expecting ALL of super hero movies to blow our minds. Plus a lot people in a way wanted this to top Dark Knight & though not entirely impossible it couldnt happen. A great reviewer once described Dark Knight as "lightning in a bottle." The story worked & was executed perfectly, the acting on EVERYONES account, especially Heath's joker couldn't been more well done, & to top it, Heaths death (though of course tragic) was a huge part in what made the Dark Knight what it was/is today. I don't mean actors have to actually die for a movie to work obviously but blending the performance & going out like that on Heaths end is what inevitably caused something truly legendary to happen. And then you try to make a sequel after all that. I mean I can only imagine what was going on in Christopher Nolans head while even just deciding to continue to go through making a trilogy still. If that's not pressure I don't know what is. But hey, he did it. And this movie works so well. To this day Bane alone still makes me actually shiver. When I saw the "hand on shoulder scene," for the 1st time in the theater I actually had to remind myself to breathe again. I felt his fingures on my own shoulder & even just thinking about it as I write this "way too long comment" I'm still afraid to ask, "can you please move your hand, I'm sorry." Comments done, sorry. +Oscar Jiro I love the Star Wars trilogies too, both the prequel and sequel trilogies. I would say I love them equally, for different reasons of course, because the Star Wars universe and Nolan's Batman universe are two different universes. Other great trilogies are Bourne and Toy Story :)
