So, that American Thomas with the wonky eyes who looks like he snorted 50lbs of illegal substances actually has a funny story behind it. I'm with a tourist railroad and we host DOWT every year. We happened to get that specific Thomas, and we're the ones who the eyes first broke on. They got worse and worse over the course of the week, and it was the funniest shit. The last weekend of the event we went to turn the fog machine on for the funnel smoke and all the fog came rushing out into the cab. Come to find out a groundhog climbed into the funnel and died during the week. We sent that Thomas off after our event and it went to the railroad you have pictured there with a dead animal clogged funnel and screwed up eyes. I have a picture of the eyes when they first broke on us

Pandemic isolation was at its highest then for me, and your hilarious takes on the dark side of Day Out with Thomas gave me some much needed laughs plus some great childhood nostalgia. I like your other content too but thanks for bringing this back!!

You see, Jinty Thomas is actually RWS-accurate because he's got a flat running board. 69,420% Railway Series-accurate, I summoned the ghost of Wilbert Awdry at 3 A.M. and he confirmed it.

I work at a heritage railway and we have an E2 and, back in the day, we used to do a day out with Thomas. But the only things we’d put faces on was the E2 (which WAS Thomas’s face, we had it specially casted. And the peckett as Percy (again: correct face) and the toad brake van with the only rectangular face: toads. All of these we had specially cast out of some plastic thing and painted. So yes. We did it correctly. But nowadays we can’t afford the licensing so the faces just ominously hang on one side of the loco shed overlooking all the workers.

This is in Britain, where the show originated. In America, the engines are replicas of what the characters are based off of, and actually look like the actual characters

Yknow imma be honest I avoided the channel for the longest time when the original stretch of dark side of dowt because I thought it was just some guy trashing on Thomas. Im glad I eventually came around and started watching ya vids
