Judy Garland was undoubtedly a brilliant presence on screen, from her breakthrough performance in The Wizard of Oz to her later blockbusters like A Star Is Born. Sadly, she had a life full of sorrow; all of the horrible things that happened to her would dominate any faithful biography of the talented but tragic actress. Here are some of the heartbreaking aspects of the life of Judy Garland.

Crazy to me she was ridiculed for her looks when growing up I always thought she was beautiful. Truly an angel who led a bleak life due to those around her.

What they did to her when she was young, is despicable. Forcing barbiturates and dietary meds on her. She was so talented and beautiful. I love all her movies from The Wizard of Oz to My Fair Lady and Meet me in St. Louis. 🕊️🙏❤️

According to Lorna Luft in an interview, she stayed with her Mother in hotels and so forth. There was no abandoning her Mother. And although a lot of this story may be true, it left out a lot of miraculous comebacks made by Judy Garland, and her astonishing concerts which were attended by so many fans ! Yes, there is no doubt the drug abuse which started courtesy of the evil MGM empire led to eventual full blown addiction, but this little video expressed more bad than good in Miss Garland's life. After all, none of us walked in Judy's shoes. She got screwed out of so much money from her concerts and brilliant movies by bad managers, and husband's, and so much so, that rather enjoy her middle age years in her 40's, she was forced to go on the road and keep touring even when she needed a break. The poor woman died of a barbiturate overdose at the young age of 47. Some of her closest friends were surprised she lasted that long. How sad indeed !

Wow, so her husband Mark slept with her daughter’s husband? I never heard that before. If that’s true, that’s crazy dysfunctional! Damnnn

It's in the Clarke biography, but that's just his opinion. I believe it was possible, but nobody has come forward to say they caught them.

I always loved as a child every year when this would come on TV. Judy Garland was amazing and endured many hardships. John Mayor of MGM was horribly abusive. Too bad he was never held responsible

Fame and fortune have destroyed a lot of people especially those unable to let it go. She should have retired.

Christ have mercy. These movie stars are deceased. None of their trials and tribulations make any difference anymore. They are at rest awaiting the resurrection. Can't we just pray for them now. 😢
