5) Is the biggest dogshit I've ever heard regarding videos about Germany. Living in Germany for 40 years, I have NEVER seen a dog in a supermarket. Not just because they are forbidden there. Also, the "poop everywhere" thing is complete bullshit. Sure, in an extremely busy area with lots and lots of dogs, you will unfortunately find a lot of dog poo. Even now and again on the paths in big cities. But not on normal forest or field paths and not "everywhere".

This video is kinda disappointing as a German, and it really seems it doesn't give first hand experiences to tell. One REAL dark side for many US Americans here in Germany seems to be our different views on pain medications. In Germany it is quite common to accept pain and discomfort as part of the natural healing process, even with more serious injuries. (I myself was born with heart disease and had multiple operations in my life, to I know the pain of healing scars and getting stitches pulled and worse). Pain medication is only given in extreme situations here, and if it is given only for short while. This is quite a culture schock for many US citizens that are used to take painkillers for every little headache normally, which makes them suffer literally. I think I've only seen one video until now mentioning that on KZfaq.

The tax system seems to try to consider every single personal situation and trys to reach "Einzelfallgerechtigkeit" ("single case equity", something like the try to be fair and consider every single personal situation) 8) Maybe yes, our system is not just based of consideration. The regulations are there to have a possibility to intervene e.g. by the police to people which doesn't give a sh** of others 9) Yes, compared to other countries, smoking is still a thing here 10) Germany is not racist but of course you have racists here. On the other hand: Goethe, the most famous poet in german history once said, after moving to another city: "When I go outside, I step in shit. I don´t like that". (My translation, his words). That video is mainly a lot of BS. Things like the dog poo for example: of course there are rules to make dog owners pick that up, and you can get fined when failing to do so. But there are millions of dog owners, so there are also a number of bad apples among them. Another mistake is the statement that health service is free in Germany. It is only really free for people who live on social benefits. People who are employed have to pay into a health insurance (state or private), the system is not funded by tax money. The internet speed is also not so much of an issue anymore. But that can vary, depending on where you live and what you are prepared to spend for it. I mean, how fast is your internet if you live in the desert in Arizona, and you monthly budget is $25 ? And also the other things.... its mostly very relative, like how easy you find friends and all that.

The original video is really bad. Most points are stereotypical and he gives almost zero background to it. And some points are outright wrong - especially 5 and 10. 5: Many germans have dogs and just like with almost everything else in Germany, you need a "license" for owning dogs. While the surely video is a bit exaggerated, I agree with most of it. I only notice a lot of things when I come back from longer trips abroad. 1) The internet connection in Germany isn't great compared to other countries (with an average download rate of around 91.4 megabits per second, we occupy 60th place in the global ranking). 2) I think it's pretty accurate 3) I think this can be very true (but it is also somewhat subjective) 4) There are multiple reasons, like the short summer, but also a lot of people find that the indoor climate is fine without air conditioning. In addition, the costs of air conditioning systems are often too high and many keep their homes cool with simple fans. That said, interest and use has been increasing in recent years. 5) While it is of course exaggerated, German cities do have a problem with dog waste (there are multiple articles about it in the last two years). Especially on sidewalks and in parks, which is also a reason for the extension of the free dog waste bags (in some areas it is so extreme that residents themselves put up dog waste bags and signs in the neighborhood). It surly isn't blanketed in dog waste, but I have to say this is something I do not see as much (not even close) in many other countries (I especially do not see as many dogs in so many everyday situations). The rest is pretty accurate (but often a bit exaggerated) in my opinion (which is subjective).

Most of the "facts" mentioned in the orig clip are massively over inflated. Most of the problems mentioned are probably linked to not speaking the language, most likely even the racism parts. Especially in the workplace you have to give 110% if you're the new guy. But that's the same for Germans. Also, most foreigners have no concept of punctuality which is a huge problem in Germany.

It is obvious, that this Guy don't speak German. In this case it can be very challanging to live here.

I agree with the point about the high level of bureaucracy. I can't confirm a problem with dog poo, at least in my town. I don't know which place he's referring to. Smoking is also not allowed here in Bavaria in public areas such as cafes etc. However, this is regulated at state level. The rest sounds more like a list of his personal negative experiences. When bureaucracy means people have to learn driving in a proper way with a minimum requirement of hours with an instructor and to proof their skills in a theoretical and practical exam then thx god for the bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is mostly a problem when they are inefficient and this happens very often in Germany. The authorities are quite sluggish, back in days and many of their services aren't online available. But there is another reason for this and this is the Basis Regulation for Data Protection which made online services often very annoying. 9. The smoking rules depending on the state where you live but in general is smoking inside not allowed. But to be honest, some smokers are mindless @ssholes. But usually they are a minority and behave quite well. My friends an I are non-smokers and were usually not bothered by smokers. 10: Of course there is racism in Germany. With the rise of the far-right AfD, they are crawling out of their stinking brown holes more and more often and shouting their propaganda. On the other hand, millions have taken to the streets in recent weeks to show their opposition to these kinds of people. No you don't need make an tax declaration if you will spend the government your money. An regular declaration of income tax need less then 1 houre for an practiced citicent. My last declartion bring me 800€ back in 30 minutes of work. It's an greate hourly wage for burocratisy.

About the dog poo - That might have been a thing some 20- 30 years in the past in my region (although it was not worse than in other countries i visited). Now people have to remove the dog poo by administrative order and there is even public dispensers of compostable bags in city parks etc for picking up the remains. I don't know for the entirety of Germany, but for my region that statement made in the video is very wrong.

Internet is fine in cities. I've had a 1GBit connection for years and no issues, even after moving several times. The dog shit thing is true. I'm german and it's really annoying and disgusting. I once had to shout at a guy across the street who let his dog shit right in the middle of a school entrance - with the pupils standing around the area. I have no idea why dog owners here are so disgusting. I can't just simply walk down a sidewalk because the chance to step in dog shit is too high. I also don't go onto grassy areas for the same reason. It's really mindboggling.
