I actually thought of an idea of a what if involving this ending. (Small note. I believe that the Game Gear/Master System games happen after the Origins saga so I have it happen after) Giving this idea, I have Sonic running for a while until he ends up at Amy's house breaking down and she tries to sonsole him, while also trying not to cry herself. After a huge pity party, Sonic and Amy get infuriated and decide to go take revenge on Eggman. They inform Knuckles too, as the go to avenge Tails' death. (Sonic Chaos) During their confrontation, Knuckles gets kidnapped and Sonic and Amy go to save him (Triple Trouble) (I've actually noticed that not many people mention that if you get all chaos emeralds in Triple Trouble you get a cutscene where Knuckles is in a pod and Sonic saves him) And for my thought process, I was thinking: If he had to gaul to kill Tails, what's to stop him from doing it again? (maybe in a different way) Eggman kills Knuckles during the adventure; leaving Sonic and Amy alone together. After beating the shit out of Eggman, they take some time to actually process what's happened the last few days. Two friends that they've recently made, two friends that made a found family that they all haven't had before meeting eachother, have died. Being scared, Sonic and Amy don't want to leave eachother; as a fear grows that if they separate for even a short time they might lose each other. Now... killing becomes... less taxing on Eggman. And a lot of Sonic characters are kidnapped in the classic era: Mighty, Ray, Vector, Charmy & Espio. This means that when they also get a smiliar experience to Amy and Tails where they eventually die too. Now Sonic and Amy are convinced they are cursed because almost everyone they meet dies prematurely.

a possible good ending to this idea is that sonic and amy, enraged and knowing that eggman is pure evil in this situation, decides to finally finish him off by killing him, and they use the chaos emerald to bring all the fallen heroes back.

honestly, i'd assume they'd get rid of eggman, one way or another (tho not via any form of outright murder, as it's sonic the freakin hedgehog) straight after tails' death, with sonic being torn apart by his grief and all. not to mention, while tails was captured a bit more easily, this is because he was young and inexperienced. it'd be harder for eggman to capture knuckles, imo, and knuckles may be able to actually fight him off (same with all of the other chaotix characters and maybe ray). if anything, amy is much more likely to get kidnapped and killed than knuckles, seeing as she has _actually_ been kidnapped by eggman. there's also the fact that i'm 99% sure that sonic and amy did not truly become friends fr until around the events of the sonic adventure games (well, excluding superstars, but this is assuming this timeline will connect directly into the modern timeline, so that game and mania do not count). why do i say this? because after the events of cd, sonic just drops amy and runs off. amy still has difficulty getting him to stop running away from her and let her tag along in sonic adventure 1, the first installment of the modern era (yes i count the dreamcast era as a sub-era of the modern era, lol). and even mentions that she quite literally hadn't seen sonic in 4 years. they _very clearly_ were not friends until around before/the beginning of sonic adventure 2. this au idea does give off satam vibes, tho. in a good way, ofc, but i can only imagine american/big gyatt robotnik going _as far_ to do this, not canon eggman (in that, maybe eggman wouldn't go out of his way _this_ much? then again, tails was kidnapped again [this time canonically] in lost world, so that's not to say the 8-bit version of sonic 2 is _completely_ out of character for our favorite doctor...). i also had the game theory music stuck in my head while typing this out, so imma just say this: but that's just a theory, a game theory!!

@@ClassicSonicPlush374 ?? no real next 'era', but here's my headcanon: sonic has two birthdays (one in runners, one in generation), plus a 6 month timeskip in forces (keep in mind there were a few games in between generations and forces as well, so we can assume he turned 18 in prison). this plus the time between forces and frontiers means that sonic is likely 19, making tails about 11/12 by then (oh how they grow up).

The creepypastas go back a little more. The whole Lavender Town theme killing kids goes back to at least '08, '09. I was like 15 and actually believed it was true. Then the notorious Ben Drowned, this was easy to not fall for because the guy didn't enable sync game to audio on PJ64 1.6 lol, resulting in sound popping. Still, the story, all the way until it ended a few years ago was sure something

Since In the genesis version this is tails first adventure,I always head-cannoned that silver sonic killed tails by spinning into him (don’t forget,tails copies your every move in game which is how he can dodge,he’s doing what sonic does.) Facing an enemy sonic faced and struggled against alone with no guidence probably ended up in his death.

here's my take on what would happen. (beware a very terrible story is coming your way) After Sonic 2 8-Bit, Sonic is Wandering through Green Hill. He Ignored the enemies, rings, and item boxes. Sonic has given up. he can't get revenge because he doesn't have the chaos emeralds. he goes home, left alone in his house, with nothing but silence. he didn't eat, didn't drink. he rotted away, and Eggman is left to rule the world.

I'd the say the closest we've gotten to a full-on "Sonic has failed" horror game that could be accurate would be Sonic CD Alternative Ending. Almost. At least here, there aren't elements that are too out of left field. Sonic2.exe has Tails and Sonic infected by fucking Zalgo, and Friendship's good endings bring in Dark Sonic (a form that mostly exists in fanon, because of just how little it was present in Sonic X). But at the same time, there's the suicidemouse.avi ending theme, the Fun is Infinite screen, and of course bloodshot eyes all present in Alternative Ending. The basic gist is that Tails and Amy perished because Sonic let Little Planet crash onto Earth's surface. If he fails to escape the crash, everyone's dead. If he escapes safely, he's greeted with their corpses and breaks down in tears, losing the will to live. Or alternatively, Knuckles shows up and tries to stop him from committing suicide, only for him to run away because apparently the souls of Tails and Amy want Sonic dead, now?

We didn’t know Tails’ identity, but we knew Robotnik was a guy named Paul and there were an additional 2 characters that didn’t appear in the game (Amy and Cream) which were both two orphans named “Lexi and Alice”, who were adopted by the members of the “cult of X” (yes, there is a cult)

It’s a common misconception that the Sonic CD screen was intentionally creepy, but it was just a joke, the me in Japan is less creepy than the US ost, so in Japan, it was more goofy, like how it was designed

I have my own head Canon i imagine the game gear titles after the events of sonic one eggman is angry after sonic destroyed his air ship eggman decided to kidnap tails and told sonic to collect the emeralds sonic knowing that he had to save tails so he did so and after he got to the crystal egg and gave robotnik the emeralds but after releasing tails the chaos emeralds disappeared and sonic chaos begins eggman held onto one of the emeralds sonic and tails go around nd destroy eggmans robots and tails helps sonic collect the emeralds and kick start triple trouble
