I like Idris's character in this movie. he has a very serious face whenever he speaks, and he speaks like he has really been fighting the man in black for a long long time. example: *I do not aim with my hand he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eyes. i do not shoot with my hand I shoot with my mind. I do not kill with my gun... I kill with my heart* I mean c'mon how deep can you get Idris I absolutely love it.

I'm super excited to see this new version of Roland's quest for the tower. I hope this is going to be rated R, because the books are in my opinion.

*GUYS!!* This is not a book adaptation! This movie is set after the books! That's why Roland has the Horn of Eld with him!!

My concern with this trailer is not the actor playing Roland Deschain is black (Seriously who gives three fucks?) but rather that they appear to have abandoned the addicted nature of the character I so loved. The fact that Jake would need to sit him down and explain the tower will help save his world, one that is full of life to ROLAND? Fuck that, Roland would walk right over jake's corpse to get to his goddamn tower and it wouldn't matter if Jake's world was long dead or brimming with life. He was an addict. A knight with a quest for the holy grail who forgot the reason the grail was supposed to be important in the first place and then, along the way remembered it piece by piece. It was an evolution of watching an animal who was once a man become human once more and that's what I loved. This puts him out to be something of a lame ass super hero with little to no depth save "be a badass". I'm really hoping they didn't change the fact that Roland killed Jake. I really really hope that is in the flick and they do it justice.

So many years ago I read the monumental work of Steven King's "The Dark Tower". I have waited as so many others have and now Roland Deschain is coming. I can not wait it's so exciting. Will the Rose be there? "Roland felt gooseflesh run up his arms. Somewhere - perhaps in a glaring, blood-colored field of roses still far from here-a rustie had just walked over his grave".

The best king books I've ever read.

For those of you who have not read "The Dark Tower" series, Roland of Gilead (the gunslinger) is like a Jedi knight in the old west, who uses pistols instead of light sabers. He is absolutely one badass mammy-jammy, period. Some of the things he does in the novel-series are mind boggling awesome. I've read 95% of all Stephen King novels. "The Dark Tower" series is, by far, his very best work. At least six of those seven series novels I literally couldn't put down, and I read them within a few days. "The Dark Tower" overlaps into A LOT of his other works, mainly The Stand ("the walking dude" is a bad guy in The Dark Tower also), Salem's Lot, and many, many others. SK did a superb job in The Dark Tower of mixing all these other books into TDT, in a way that makes sense. Having said that, it's difficult to watch this trailer without a critical eye. What I mean is, there are significant differences in TDT novels, and several things I've seen in this trailer. Still, it looks like it will be a good movie (definitely), but as an avid admirer of TDT novels, and as always happens when I read a novel first, and then watch the Hollywood adapted movie afterward, I know I'll be disappointed in the end and as always happens, I'll wonder why in the hell Hollywood didn't just simply follow the novel's structure and be done with it?? Bottom line, I'll definitely go see it. One tiny detail is (for example), it looks like the movie is going to bypass the numerous, single doors standing up on a beach...each one opening into a different world and on the beach are these freaked out shellfish called "lobstrosities" (just one example). Anyway, that lingering disappointment will be watching it with me.

To bad Eddie, Susannah, and Oy are not in the movie. The whole Ka-Tet would have made this epic, and probably a two part movie. I am still down to see this and very excited they finally made it into a movie.

I've never heard of "The Dark Tower" books so when I saw this trailer the first thought that popped into my head was "Wow, this looks really damn good." Then I went to the comment section.... Oh lord, what a mistake. (Edit. Turns out this series is at my local library, gonna go ahead and give them a read.)

I read this book in High School and completely forgot. As soon as they mentioned the gunslinger and man in black, I knew I had read it! This looks incredible

I always view movies based on books as separate from the books so as a standalone film this looks alright. The action looks decent, the plot looks simple enough but still engaging, and the costumes look good.

Hmmm. No Susanna, no Eddie, no Oy the billybumbler, no Bane the train, no Crimson King.... Well maybe they couldn't give it all away. But I know this won't do justice to the novels. Looks action packed though.

For everyone commenting on the music from A Few Dollars More - that is also an easter egg as the author Stephen King used to watch spaghetti westerns when he was young - this is where the stories of the Gunslinger were born

The characters are amazing and this needs to become a TV show.

Ahh, so it's not The Dark Tower. It's a smoothed off, lowbrow, gun-fu, action blockbuster attaching some of the same character names to a speck of the original plot. I'm sure that a lot of people who haven't read the book will like it. It's such a shame because the books are so darn cinematic already. I never expected a movie to tackle the books 100% faithfully (how could it?) but it seems that the grit and pathos of the original has been entirely ignored, shirked even. I'd rather see Roland stagger messily through the incident at Tull, bloody, stabbed in several places, forced to murder an entire town, than see him drop-load his six shooters, kill a baddie, then say a one-liner... Maybe I'm just being a bumhug. Hopefully one day some brave group of souls will get the chance to tackle this appropriately, perhaps as a series, each season representing one of the books. It's a shame really, Matthew McConaughey would have made a fantastic Man in Black in a proper version of the tale. Oy!

I'm confused about his guns. Not double action, we saw him open the cylinder to reload one by one, but then we see him some how load all new cylinders from the side of his gun in mid air.... something doesn't add up
