Personally, I think that Dooku not attending Qui-Gons funeral was the worst he did.

Dooku is always fascinating.

It's interesting that Dooku believed Qui-Gon would of joined him as had he survived, but Maul perished and Dooku was still set on the Sith path, his Sith trial would of definitely been to slay Qui-Gon instead.

just imagine how Yoda would have felt, Dooku was his star pupil and padawan, he trained Dooku ever since he was brought into the jedi order as an infant and Yoda must have been proud with how exceptional Dooku was as a jedi, then how disheartening when he found his old padawan on Geonosis having embraced the dark side of the force and instigating a war with the republic. the Jedi grand master may not have shown it but Dooku hurt Yoda in a way few have ever could by falling to the dark side of the force.

The moment you defeat a rival, his existence becomes irrelevant.

Syfo lost his mind, was plagued with force visions of war and was kicked off the Jedi Council. To Dooku, he was doing him a favor.

He started out a good man, albeit one who had a tenuous connection to the dark side throughout his life. But the moment he threw in with Palpatine, that's when he really started spiraling into the terrible person he'd become give both Sidious and The Dark Side itself were working their magic and twisting him.. Still, Dooku is one of the coolest dark side users in my opinion because he managed to stave of physical dark side corruption for so long; he was evil, but he didn't just frivolously use the dark side.

In origjinal Legends material with they should of had Dooku be Sidious right hand person prior to finding The Skywalkers, The Solos Of Leias Background, And Or The Mereks with Maul as Dookus top dark acolyte with with Ventress being Mauls top assassin and Grievous being Ventress top attack dog and Durge being Grievous number one backer yeah.

Makes one winder if Dooku was acrually irredeemable. Some people say he would have been redeemable for initially falling the way he did. Killing your best friend, gloating about it, and giving his saber to the enemy is pretty despicable.

This is why I disagree that Dooku is some sympathetic character that's not as evil as other Sith Lords. Sure, he might have had good intentions when he was younger, but by the time we see him in AotC he's not much better than Sidious.

i love Dooku as a character his spotlight in Tales O The Jedi is one of the best pieces of Star Wars writing. i still think that, from a storytelling perspective, Maul is a much better antagonist and foil for both Obiwan and Anakin. rather than a disenfranchised idealist of a jedi, which is interesting to show, he's still inferior to the conflict with the main 2 Jedi off this story and his parallels wiht Anakin in particular. he was raised as a slave, even when his own mother held power over the situation, where Anakin was somewhat valued and treated relatively well or that situation, Anakin was lucky that the Jedi found him and valued him so highly as to break the rules to have him join where Maul wasn't even a real apprentice but a tool, Maul would hold envy for Anakin as well as hatred for his relatively charmed life along with the boy being the apprentice his master truly wanted. Sidious and because of all this Maul has more of a personal connection to the core issues that he can use to be seen as a genuine symbol of the hatred many in the outer rim hold for the core worlds along with the system that favors them. imagine the chilling scene of Maul replacing Dooku in the duel at the end of episode 2, him sensing Anakin's rage and making a frightful connection with him about the slaughter of the the raiders that took him mother. that's just if we go with the movies, with the rest of the media like this, these ideas could have been even more fleshed out. as for Obiwan and Maul, that much is obvious, even if the injuries didn't happen he still would have failed to kill a padawan while killing his master. even going the bisection angle but simply not having him go missing, Maul's cybernetics would have a connection to what Anakin would become as Darth Vader. perhaps he mocks him for not using his hatred correctly and stating that the lost hand is just the beginning. of course meaning he could do more if their paths crossed again but the double meaning would have been interesting. the irony that he would lose his legs and become "more machine now than man" by his own master's hand after besting Maul.

My interpretation is that he cared so much for Syfo that when he killed him it was like he killed the aspiring Jedi Dooku and therefore Darth Tyrannus was born. He likely looked to Syfo Dyas and felt remorse reminding himself of his more honorable and prideful side of doing things for the greater good. But to over come this weakness he was going to use his best friends blood whom he used and manipulated up to this and was giving his blood to a cyborg Dooku had no respect for. Its a shame. There were many jedi such as Syfo, Pong Krell, Shaak Ti,Anakin and Yoda, Qui Gon and others who were warned of the clone wars and the betryal but couldnt see it for what it was.

If the Jedi are meant to be unattached, calm and meditative, why do so many of them act like bullies? Part of Anakin’s fall with the bullying he received for starting so late and still being a bad-ass. Now you’re saying that Dooku was bullied? I mean, sure… both of them were good enough with a blade to survive some pretty harsh punishment. But it still seems out of character.😊

I think another (obvious) reason why Dooku had a soft spot towards Qui-gon was that he was his student. Sifo-Dyas was his friend, and Dooku was scummy, but no matter what, they would never have the same dynamic that he and Qui-gon shared.

Shish, I knew that Dooku was a ruthless and cunningly charismatic politician and warrior. But in respect of his former friend and Jedi master Sifo-dyas, once he joins the ranks of the sith, he is literally stone cold blooded in not only arranging his death, as well as by mutilating his body later on to help create one of the greatest Jedi killers ever and in doing so, pull a move that sidious would be proud of. As he lets the past die to be reborn as a Sith.

Can you do a video on exactly why Dooku basically revealed a major piece of the Grand Plan of the Sith to Obi Wan in AoT? I've never understood the angle there.

*Clone Wars* Dooku is so much darker than the one on film. In the films he seems almost...tragic. In CW, he's a brutal, avaricious despot and conqueror - Lord _Tyrannis_ indeed. Did Lucas change his mind ("He's a political idealist.") or was this just Dooku's public mask. No need to guess which one I prefer - the CW Dooku is far more interesting.
