This takes me back to when I first started to learn playing bass and I tried to learn most of this album. The Darkness were a big deal at the time in the UK but I think unfortunately a lot of the attention they got back then was because many thought they were a comical band. They maybe played up to it a little but I think at that time, it was very uncool to play that type of music so it was possibly the only way it could've been accepted in the mainstream. I haven't listened to this stuff in a long time and I forgot how much I really liked it. I wasn't as keen on their second album but was glad to see them make a come back and I made of cover of their track 'Open Fire' a few years ago, and I think it's the best they've ever sounded.
I'm playing most of Dan's parts and I saw on live videos he plays with a capo at the 7th fret. I didn't want to do any video edits so I play with it on until the last chorus where I briefly show the chorus rhythm before doing Justin's cool outro.
You can find my other Darkness stuff here - • The Darkness Covers
I use a Jackson Dk2 into a Boss Me50 into a Palmer Pdi-09 into a Focusrite Scarlet into my Mac running Logic Pro X
F.A.Q. - I keep my headphones like that so they stay out the way. The cable is very long.
I have a Patreon where I upload my notation notes for all my new covers and I am going through my old ones too. But I also provide custom notation and video lessons content there or at my bwmguitarlessons@gmail.com address. Please get in touch if you want help playing the music you love. / bwm5150
