Mas o técnico Tite era demasiado lento para escolher. Raphinha não vinha bem, Gabriel Jesus 14 jogos sem nenhum gol, Daniel Alves muito velho. Ainda assim ele preferia estes caras. Tite não tinha nenhum esquema tático, era tudo na habilidade dos jogadores. Martinelli foi uma ótima surpresa, pena que não foi bem aproveitado.
