HBO wanted more episodes. GRRM wanted more episodes. The actors wanted more episodes. The fans wanted more episodes. D&D wanted the Star Wars trilogy. I'll NEVER forgive D&D for what they did to this show.

This. HBO wrote D&D a blank check for the last two seasons. Budget (CGI or otherwise) was NEVER a problem for them. D&D ran out of source material and revealed that they were in WAY over their heads when it came to writing their own stuff. They wanted to bail on the show, which is why they only ordered 8 episodes.

For me, GOT died in episode 10 of the 6th season when Varys traveled from Dorne to Meerreen in a record and impossible amount of time. It showed that the writers no longer cared about the rules of this universe and if they were willing to do something like that for entertainment, they could do anything and break any rule, that was when I realized that the next seasons were gonna be completely different than the show I feel in love with.

This argument is bogus. Dan & Dave infamously had a dinner with GRRM shortly after the premiere of S4. During that dinner, George outlined the main plot points of the remaining story. All 3 parties have confirmed that this conversation happened. D&D told George's story. You can certainly make the argument that these plot points were perhaps rushed due to the lack of episodes left. But if you're mad at what took place within the story itself.... your beef is with GRRM. Not D&D.

Nop, Game of thrones never died... I just got bad ... and you are the judge when it came... For me personaly Season 7 and 8 are the parts where it got really bad ... But season 6 already had its big problems... For others it may be even season 5 ... IN all this we can see one thing ... the author should have never told them his planes so they could tell their "own" story(after the books were overrun) and/ or the two D should have stop being involved or who ever is responisble for this disaster... I mean come on if they want to attend to other projects or whatever... they should have given it to somebody else... An other Problem is that the actors were getting old ...

I like to headcanon the S4 finale as the end of the series. Everyone gets some form of closure. -Tyrion kills Tywin, and escapes to Essos with Varys -Tywin's death effectively cripples the Lannisters -Tommen and Margery go on to become fairly benevolent monarchs -Danerys rules in Slaver's Bay, and works to put an end to slavery -Sansa is safe in the Vale, under the (admittedly questionable) protection of Littlefinger, who is himself being watched by the Lords of the Vale -Jon successfully drives back Mance's forces with Stannis' help, and works to shore up defenses at the Wall while Stannis wages war on the Boltons -Arya departs to Braavos, to eventually become a Faceless Man

The final season reminded me of how I used to play with my action figures when I was younger. I would spend time role playing fun stories for a while but then if I had to go and eat dinner or do something else, I would eventually return to my toys before bed and, to finish the previous story I was playing, would pack away my toys by “killing-off” many of the characters and rushing them to reach their conclusions (uninspired as they may have been at age 8). This season reeks (no pun intended) of putting your toys back into the toy box because the writer’s wanted to go to bed. Such a shame that for a show that prided itself on slow-burning, intricate details over years of storytelling, the writers in charge focussed on undeserved, rushed spectacle based on contradictory, overly simplistic storytelling

In a way yes. This is one of the reasons why I have grown a certain resentment towards Star Wars. I still have respect for the original trilogy, but overall I find the entire franchise to be the very definition of overrated. So many instances were other film/tv series had a chance to be special, but were abandoned because "Ooooo Star Wars!". Gareth Edwards left the Godzilla sequel to do Rogue One instead which arguably diminished the quality of King of the Monsters. D&D could have given Game of Thrones additional episodes and produced a far more satisfying ending to the series, but no have to rush off to do Star Wars (which they will ruin even more than Disney already did). Everyone putting Star Wars in this high pedestal sort ruins the chances of other great (or better) fictional stories to shine.

I agree with you. I can somehow forgive the problems with pacing and character arcs, if I can see the ideas and reasons behind them. But when I watched the the 'council' in the last episode. It really annoyed me. No way the council would look like this, the only reason Sam, Davos and Brienne were there is because they are main characters of the show. No way they would listen to Tyrion like that while he was a prisoner. And while his nomination of Bran was somehow intelectual interesting, no way it could convince anyone of the council. And no way everyone would accept the North being the only kingdom to become independent... yeah and so on. While GRRM will probably write things differently in the books, it's quite possible that Daenerys end up as a mad queen, but no way he would write a council like that.

The show made "The Long Night" a literal long night. "The Long Night" needed at least a full two seasons to feel impactful, imo anyway. Personally, the Game of Thrones we got died in season 4; season 5 has some great scenes, concepts, and plot directions, but they were completely shat on in season 6 anyway.

"Foreshadowing is not character development" is the best way to frame the criticism of Dany's arc.

The sins of season 7 were not forgivable. It just took the show getting even worse for people to snap out of their denial.

Season 5 is when the show started to decline in quality, but season 7 is when it died, in my opinion. And I was in denial of that all the way up until S8 Ep 4, if I'm being honest. Now I see how bad S7 and especially 8 actually are. I just thought it could be redeemed

Alot of the people not liking season 8 are dany fans. They would have been perfectly content if she wasn't killed off.

I would like to see a remake where Daenerys attacks king's landing first and then the last episodes be against the night king. Also where everybody gets back their I.Q.´s.

The show died in Season 5, when they introduced Dorne just because Indira Varma was Ellaria. At the end of the day, we just had a rushed storyline that lead to nowhere but the death of a minor character, not to mention how poorly edited that combat scene was.
