This story is about them being combining the gods together. Alexander the great came to egypt and it happened. Aphrodite became Aphrodite-Hathor. Artemis became Artemis-Bast. etc. Since a lot of the gods were so similar. And surprisingly this didn't happen just in Egypt. But also in sumeria. As with Aphrodite, the greeks admitted that they just took Inanna and made her Aphrodite.

@@White_Breeder This is the first time I've heard this. And that's why Typhon should have its name? A flood would be more in keeping with the myths of Deucalion and Pyrrha. For me, the wind still makes more sense. No idea if it's the same. But nobody associated anything with Typhon. 🤔

- Typhon did not force the Gods to flee Greece. It was the mythology from ancient Egyptian civilization that came first. Along with Sumerian civilization/Mesopotamia, the ancient Egyptians and their civilization are considered to both been the earliest forms of civilization; both developed independently of each other in the 3rd millennium BC. For Ancient Greece, the time frame is from 5th century BC to the end of antiquity in 600 AD. where it too emerged as a vibrant civilization.
@esdeathchan4354

Isn't india mythology is the oldest?
@katerinaaqu
@katerinaaqu Жыл бұрын
That's not absolutely true. The first confirmed greek language is Mycenaean which is at least 3000 years old. God Dionyssus is for example mentioned there among others. 5th century is the peak of classical antiquity but by no means is the beginning of greek religion. Plus one can add MInoans and Cycladites to the equasion. Given that Minoans had so much cultural and genetic similarities to the Mycenaeans, they are theorized by some that they are cause and result of each other. Minoans are as old as unified Egypt at least since they are dated like 3000 BCE. Unfortunately we do not know for certain because Linear A is not deciphered. So no, Greek civilization doesn't start at 5th century. Confirmed are as far back as 16th century BCE if not further back. To me they do unravel at roughly the same time like people of India or the Mayans etc

No the Greeks like many other places in Eurasia all got their gods from the proto indo european legends that started from th proto indo european people that lived in modern day ukraine, before Egypt was even building pyramids... which is why from india to Scandinavia the stories and languages are all similar, their religions and language developed from the proto indo europeans....

Greek gods have the same desires and weaknesses as humans. Fear, jealousy, anger etc you name it. And they did battle the creature head on. The myth goes that Zeus either sent him to Tartarus in the end or covered him with Aitna volcano. They mention it as the hardest battle though

Typhon is equated with the egyptian deity Set. All pagan gods could be related but separated via space because of their family lineage and not wanting their "worship" to be conflicted or overtaken by their cousins so to speak. But they probably all had equivalents in eachothers religions just incase one pantheon lost follows/worshippers and had to dip, rather than being alone they joined the rest of their families in their families pantheons. Some joined violently and some joined peacefully.

Actually the Greek God's derived from the Egyptian dieties first, not the greeks. A famouse Greek philosopher of the gods mentioned this in his works, that the Greek god's actually came from the Egyptians customs first. Some early depictions of Zeus illustrates him as black like the Egyptian and like how the philosopher explained his skin tone.

It’s a symbolic story showing that the Greek gods were operating out of fear & identified with the lesser the animal side however the Egyptians had perfect balance with their lesser.

Every culture in the world has done that. To be fair for someone to learn of someone else to improve their lives, to be shows how progress works. The greeks never claimed that they "own everything". On the contrary they documented everything they learnt and respected their sources in various forms from mythology till history
