@SmallSpoonBrigade10 күн бұрын
That's not why, it's more because he got overexposed that was about the time that he got his animated series and at that time there was a cap of sorts on how commercial you could be and still have any credibility. If you layer that on top of the fact that he's already gained a following by being a bit more upbeat and positive and that's just not going to work. Most of what this video talks about is the result of just being in, very, very good with a community that's used to having to take matters into their own hands. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody else took offense to people screwing with him and he just played along to not rile anybody up.

He was also a boxer, and definitely could, but too many of his people were happy to do it for him. Dude was more like a cult leader to the people around him than a friend.

@@mikefelty2625 From how this story sounds, MC Hammer can't fight on his own. Weak mean need backup.

@@mikefelty2625 Any boxer that sends others to fight his battles isn't a boxer, he's a bitch.

These stories do make it seem that way, but that doesn't mean he can't fight for himself. Only that in these situations there were a bunch of guys that stepped in before someone could even get to him. As with anyone that has faithful followers, there will be people that take up for that person whether told to or not. These days you see it more with people going after one another online, but in the 90s, it was done in person.

I met hammer when I was doing photos for a radio station. Dude was so nice and even chatted me up about how he started off his career doing similar events.

The black dude in 3rd Bass is MF DOOM before he changed his name. It was one of his earliest crews other than KMD. Wild story.

I love your story telling style. Look, I’m an old white lady who’s not into rap music and knows vey little about it (though I do know who MC Hammer is). Few things in this story: rappers, Crips, music industry etc… are areas of interest to me. But I was totally into your story and even listened twice. A sure sign of a great storyteller! ✌️❤
