Man, Korean afterlife is REALLY unforgiving for small things. "I worked for money." "Crush him with a rolling mill and feed him to the fish!"

Those Hell judges are pretty damn quick to condemn a person without looking at the evidence. And apparently it’s an exception to have those guardians on your side, escorting you? Most of those poor bastards being tormented in Hell are probably actually totally innocent once given some context.

"You did bad, you get punishment" "But it was for good" "Ok, no punishment"

Literally Every Judge: “okay Hong is guilty and will be punished for eternity” Guardians: “yeah but what if I told you he had a good reason” Judge: “oh nvm lol he’s the nicest guy that ever lived”

You’d think that dying as a firefighter forfeiting your life to save another would be sufficient up front to avoid all the trials. If not, the rest of us are so totally screwed.

"Hey, just because you tried to save your friend who couldn't be saved, helped saved other people and sacrificed your life to save a little girl doesn't mean you don't deserved to be judged for failing to save your friend." - Yours truly, a High and Mighty pompous Judge of the Dead.

It just seems like the judges don't realize that life is messed up. They should be made to live a mortal life every few centuries to keep them chill.

Imagine making it all the way through, just to be punished for an offensive tweet you made 15 years ago

Its a huge PAIN when he accepted hes fate and never answer back.

This made me stick around because i dreamed of dying to a dark shadow and seeing my body and family around it and they couldn't see me. It was a horrible feeling.

This was very touching. I was deeply moved by the whole thing. Wonderfully and beautifully written script.

After watching this, it reminded me of my brother's dog. His dog was really energetic and I sometimes didn't pay attention to him. Then one day the dog got sick and then continued to be sick for more than 2 weeks until he passed away, and in those 2 weeks I never saw him happy and energetic anymore. It really hurt me when I looked at him when he passed away, I kept thinking about the dog having a fun life. Could I have made him happier by playing with him? These types of questions went to my head at the time and I was just quietly sitting down while thinking about him. And I would still sometimes think about those questions even after months has passed. I know he had a fun life because my brother and his girlfriend took very care of him but just hope I made his life a little better or gave him a little bit of happiness that he deserved

One issue I have with this movie was the fact that the Judges were way to quick to jump to conclusions without looking deeper.

Imagine all the souls that didn’t have guardians to stand up for them. Are they judged unfairly then?

This was an awesome one, and my tears show how sensitive I am. Well, done Mr. Brain Junkie.

Just watched both films and I really enjoyed them, well worth your time. Thanx movie recap I would off not known about these 2 movies if it wasn't for your channel .

Gotta say, this made me rethink about what bad things i did in the past and what i need to do to change. This movie sums all of that up in a guilty but true way.

Wow, the number of times he was almost sentenced to years of torture simply because the judge didn't look close enough, that would have ,me seriously worried about the fate of those before me and if it was sheer laziness in those casting the judgements or not. lol

Okay but the special effects in this movie are insane, it looks so good

Imagine this if all life was seen as equal in the afterlife. Man: "lives a selfless life working for others" Man: "stands before the Trial to the afterlife" Judge: "You spent 10 minutes trying to kill a fly once finally managing to catch and drown it to its death" Man: "what? Bu..." Judge: "100 YEARS IN SUFFERING TO REPENT!!!"

This is like a movie adaptation of those old folk tales that have really bipolar and extreme judgement and morals, like; "You stole a dollar from this man. You now lose both arms and a leg."

This movie isn't about the afterlife, it's about being human. We all contain "judges" in our own minds who torture us because of "sins" we've committed. We need to foster forgiveness (for self and others) and in doing so, we create defenders who stand for us against the judgment, allowing us to move on with our lives and "reincarnate". If we remain in shame and judgment of ourselves, we become stuck and cannot grow as a person.

Judges: "You did something really bad so get ready to suffer" Guardians: "Ok but he did it for a better reason" Judges: "Oh in that case this guy is actually the best person to ever live and should be reborn immediately"

What a great metaphysical story along with some action as well.

Korean movies are so full of grace. Filled with self sacrifice, family, redemption, love and respect for mothers and fathers. And they have got to be amongst the most beautiful aesthetics in movies in the world. Just breathtaking costumes and makeup, special effects, themes and concepts. This film is nearly the best I've ever watched. Brava.

I felt nostalgic. The moment I saw the thumbnail, I knew it had to be THIS movie. Our teacher made my class watch this movie a few years ago, and there was even a sequel to it (with the former MCs younger brother being the new one) SPOILER: In the sequel, the guardians' past lives are revealed. That's all 😅

Plot twist : these divine judges should be the one in trials

Omniscient Divine Judge that knows all and sees all: he’s guilty Guardian: but here’s the reason you didn’t know about Literal gods that know everything: oh I didn’t know that.

The acting of this is unexplainable such a class i have never cried so much after watching a movie

and the plot twist on 2nd part is greater. Worth the watch.

This sounds like an amazing movie. Although i couldnt help thinking the deity judges themselves were all more focused on punishment then understanding the motivations behind what could be considered "sinful" actions.

For a trial who can get any proof and evidence, they kept missing some of the details and makes drastic judgements lmao

Ok. The main guy who "almost" was tortured forever in each judgement was like the most wholesome man ever.... Lol. I'm sooooo screwed !

Honestly, this sounds like how a Korean would explain The Divine Comedy. It's really cool to see different cultures coming up with such different ways to tell such a similar story.

to think how many people are stuck in eternal torment just because they didn't have a good lawyer, and a group of judges who don't even look into the person actual background or motivation if it wasn't for the others, this dude would have been punished for nothing in most of this

For all of you who still don't get it, you are not supposed to see all of this as literal, this is happening on his head moments before he goes to the other side and his subconciousness (the defenders) is trying to tell him that he was a good man and should learn to let go of his guilt and stop judging himself so harshly (the unfair and blind judges)

mr brain junkie is that one friend with great memory and great descriptive skills who spoils the whole movie for you, you don't want to listen, but you want to know too bad

Well, it's discouraging considering ALL those deities only know half truths and judge severe punishments inaccurately solely based on little info. What I saw within the film is that mere humans and a couple guardians know better than those "Peak of Morality" deities.....
