Saw this on the big screen when it came out. Love Walken's performance in this movie. The ICE is going to BREAK!

Christopher Walken had the most tortured looking eyes in this movie. Stephen King does it again with an excellent storyline 👍 I just got you on my algorithm and was so pleasantly surprised that you reacted to a lot of the movies I like so I'm happy to subscribe.😊😊

Doesn't the Stillson character resemble a current angry vindictive politician who would push that button without thinking of the results to the world?

This fits the book well, and the casting is right on - Herbert Lom, Tom Skerritt, Walken, Brooke Adams (not Karen Allen! I hafta remind myself), Collen Dewhurst as Psycho Mom, Martin Sheen as the Other Psycho/Baby Holder. I didn't see this film on original release because of my negatives towards Sheen AND Walken, but eventually my fondness for Herbert Lom (1960's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and of course PINK PANTHER series) and Tom Skerritt (especially his motorcycle cop in HAROLD & MAUDE) won me over. I wasn't an un-fan of Cronenberg (yet) but eventually, his underwhelming reputation for confused stories that attempted some glorified mysteriousness bored me. This film, however, is one of my favorites from him. I have wondered why, too - did Stephen King have some direct insistence with him? Some power that forced Cronenberg to use the novel and screenplay?
