@redletter2008 I always heard that Stevie was in the studio at the time John Stewart was recording "Gold" and he wanted her just to help him sing it.

There's like three demos of this awesome song...one recorded for Tusk, another for Bella Donna and yet another for Rock A Little. It's so interesting how this obvious classic was turned away so many times. I think this one is my favorite demo of them all. Stevie is all about timing and I guess it turned out fine because it's been recorded yet again for her new album set for release October 2014, 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault. It's really good too but I love the background vocals on this take. Regardless, The Dealer is another timeless song from the timeless Stevie Nicks!

@Rhiannonlynn1970 Actually, Lindsey produced "Gold" for Stewart (and played lead guitar). I believe it was Lindsey that got Stevie involved with the track (a VERY good decision). This is around '79 (before Tusk's release) - a time when Stevie was singing on a other artsists songs (Whenever I Call You Friend with Kenny Loggins & Magnet & Steel with Walter Egan). Stevie helped "Gold" reach #5 on the pop singles chart.

The late 70's and 80's was a really sleazy period full of evil scum bags. I don't miss that crap at all, regardless of how good a band FM was.

I think that guy she sang "Gold" with mentioned something about this song being recorded for Tusk. Of course it didn't make Tusk because Stevie already had 5 songs on the double LP, and as we Stevie fans all know, Stevie CANNOT have as many, and God forbid, MORE songs than Chris and certainly not Lindsey. Chris had 6 fine Tusk tunes; Lindsey had NINE - 7 of which (IMO) are not worthy of Fleetwood Mac AND included NO vocals from either Stevie or Christine AND some had NO input from John or Mick.
