fair competitive environment won't exist when there are profits to be made. Games mostly exist to create profit, not to create the most fair or balanced environment possible. Its just to keep the wheel going, people spending, and keeping you engaged to spend money.

I miss when the barrier to entry for open world pvp was spending like 100 hours grinding and getting a couple of lucky enhancements. Back when pirates PvP had been absolute juicer content for a bit, and the Valencia 6 pvp server had just dropped. Now you need to spend thousands of hours of playtime just to get to even get to that competitive point again. I miss running it back on RBF and Arsha with 400 gearscore, back when the softcap was 500, and you could STILL style on kids that were 500 gearscore. Now having even a 20 gearscore gap between players can causes an insane disparity, not to mention that 20 gearscore gap will probably cost you hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay to close. New players will see veteran players gearscore and want to grind it up to be able to compete, but once the new players catch up to the veterans, the veterans will have already quit the game by then because there is nothing to do once you have that gearscore besides flex it in RBF or go on arsha and scare away everyone trying to grind. I get the that game was designed to be a grind fest. If you grind more than the other player, you should have an advtange over them. But does it really have to be so egregious? Do those huge gearscore gaps really need to mean so much past 700 gearscore? Why couldn't it have stopped at some point so the barrier to entry for open world pvp wasn't so high? Why can't there be actual PvE/Group content that would justify increasing that number on your stat sheet? Removing all of this PvP open world content has a huge impact on wanting to get higher gearscore. What are we gearing up for at this point? Theres no PvE content, there is no PvP content, and there is no bugatti waiting at the end of the grind. Until something changes, I'm hopping off of this perpetual nut grinding machine.

The openworld pvp is why my friends and me started to play this game 3y ago, coming from eso and 5y of everyday cyrodiil, the idea of pvp everywhere was just so fucking good so we started the game, wont ever forget those fights at miru spawn, now games dead, no one in rbf no wars, siege almost dead too and soon node wars will be gone, and of course being 1 console peasant no solare no guild league, feels good to grind thousands of hours to get fucked near the end

You go to Arsha, to kill pvers to then complain that you killed them on a pvp server. You go to pve server to kill people, they tell you to go arsha and grief there lol. You gotta ask a gm for a date and time to bend them over if they even accept the dec. They never continued to develop a way for pvp to make PA money. Ai circles and shallow mini games disguised as content. That's all this game is anymore. Best graphics and combat in any MMOrpg, proceeds to be FarmVille simulator. Only reason this game didn't get knocked down is because it had nothing competing with its niche for 10 years. Lack of competition breeds lack of innovation. It has plagued the gaming industry for over a decade now.

This is true. like a slap in the face, they gave Arsha a server where it’s difficult to find people for pvp, but most importantly, there is no motivation, a 50% drop rate is nothing in this game. even if you find pvp, you just end up fighting endlessly due to the lack of a revival cooldown. Make the revival cooldown at least 10-20 seconds and 150-200% drop rate would partially solve the problem with pvp in the open world. or even better, add an Arsha server with gear cuts and a slightly lower % drop rate (like 100%), so that not only overgear can have fun in the game.

This is the truth for real. Lack of content. Lack of updates. Lack of pvp. No raids or dungeons (araxxor w.e tf its called is a joke). No reason to gear up to begin with. Over monetized p2w (uncapped p2w) too high of a grindwall to even get friends invested. Games a dumpster fire.

Truth is we enjoyed forcing people to pvp. It felt like """violence"""", it felt like creating actual chaos. And thats ok: it's just a videogame. I dont understand why they had to make it "safe". Theres towns and marni for that..

totally agree with you. wasted 5 years to reach 760 gs and now i just stay afk in heidel cause there is literally nothing to do. arsha is full of pve'ers who as soon as i look at them they V and change server.. node wars are cringe.. they added guild league to replace open world. absolute garbage game. totally waste of time

Everyone should understand, if there no class/character balance in game then it uses "forced meta" so they can change meta and force to reroll and spend you money to play as another class

Speak to ANY ex rad player who didnt harass and abuse people, were just indiscriminate and didnt camp people. I can guarantee they all will say they had positive experiences with their targets 90% of the time. It was very rare for someone to get mad at me when doing killing random players n moving on. Even when I lost people had a laugh. That was my highlight of BDO. Its now gone :/ That was my ONLY source of player interaction and now that its far too punishing I speak to no one. Interact with no one. Its a single player game 100% of the time for me now.

I'm terrible at PvP but completely respect the right to get my bum kicked for my grind spot, its part of the fun.

100% true ;( open world was great. yes at times it was "toxic" but thats what made it so fun/ emotional investment into the PvP and your guild made it so you wanted to get better, you wanted to get more gear, you had loyalty to your guild and wanted it to get stronger. now its all just so meaningless

PvP wouldn't be as important if there was more meaningful content aside from pvp, but yea i get why people are upset about the pvp changes, i just think they should do what blue squadron asked for and just make mediah a pvp zone on arsha with insanely juiced loot and no marni. But that's not gonna fix the game by itself, the game has a lot of issues, so many cool ideas end up hella mid. Like i was excited for sailing and stuff, bro you go 5 hours away and you gotta hunt a single fish that attacks then sits there, attacks then sits there, and you gotta turn the ship hella slow everytime, go to the cannon then repeat. Probably the dumbest way to make that content, Poptropica had a better ship combat minigame who the hell thought this was a good idea? There's a ton of things like that in the game too it's so strange how it can look so nice and combat is so fun but literally everything else is designed by an intern rushing so he could go home

Problem is the player base also ruined OpenWorld pvp things got more weird and toxic such as DOXXING and other stuff I know you seen all the drama videos' the line in the sand was the massive harassment that happened in KR after Lost Ark fumbled the bag. We had something good and we fucked it up and then Pearl Abyss panic and went the lazy way out

The pvp system was inferior to Lineage 2 from the start. The "culture" was camo wielding p2w rmt and botter cunts who would pearl up 50 times in a row. At least the uniform was nerfed. But yeah, the modern audience raised by anime who lose 50% hp irl when dying ingame makes it even worse. IMO the consequences of pvp death should be harsher, at least gradually increasing respawn time and distance, 1h cooldown on pearl up and no karma penalty if you're killed again.

You never realize just how many people in an MMO really never were PvPers to begin with, until given the choice to not PvP. In 6000 hours, I ran into maybe one person who took the L with grace when they decided to invade. When I was new, I'd get up and flag up because I was desperate to get to PvP at all, and outside of people just wanting your spot, no one wanted to actually brawl outside of Battle Arena. All pearlabyss has done is give PvP-hating, antisocial, anxiety-prone players a safe space so they don't wind up karma-bombing you when they are politely but firmly nudged out of your grind circle. You know, the people everyone hates to play with, now you don't have to play with them. I wouldn't call segregating paper targets from actual people the death of pvp. And honestly, it's nice that you don't have to turn World chat on anymore for the inevitable shitstorm that happens when you decide to pop someone mad-dashing ahead trying to steal your rotation. Like honestly they've not robbed us of pvp, they robbed us of the ability to ask ourselves if we wanna potentially ruin some crypissbaby's day by booping them for not establishing a rotation. You're not creating a rival or making a friend or anything, that guy probably is just gunna quit in a month anyway for some other reason. It's like killing a mob except it costs PearlAbitch money when you do it. When they did similiar to WoW it was disheartening... until you realize that PvP only came in two forms in WoW: Someone refuses to fight back because it's 1v1 , or they have friends so they're brave. If you're not an asshole in BDO, pvp has always been rare on main servers, relatively. I'm struggling to understand why this patch created so much hard feelings for people. The players are the exact same as the players in 2019.

The game got no PvE content anyway. The group content was open world pvp. My best experiences are from getting farmed at Pirates haha then getting your guild up and having a full blown GvG for 3 hours Since PvP is removing everything that makes fun there is no reason to play it. Imagine grinding 600 hours only so you can grind faster…… the PvE community absolutely destroyed the game. Now we’re having a game with no PvP and no PvE

this is the most bad update in my opinion. pvp is stalemate. dr vs eva= no one dies. eva vs full ap.= full ap dies. eva vs eva =no one dies. eva vs accu= accu dies.. in short full eva and full accu is the way. no more full ap. accu. if u build this full accu ap. cant 1 combo eva or dr build. while eva and dr can 1 combo ap accu player.. STATEMATE. SO everyone is going full eva or dr ..now. so pvp no ones dies.

I agree with your going forward, and I don't want to take away from your interactions but from someone that actually played day 1 (took a long break), it was never about the PvP. What happened was that at some point those were the only people who remained in the game. Cause they abandoned the other systems just to appeal to the gear hungered PvP. They weren't making real content. I think the OW PvP was always shit, and like you said balance has always been shit, way before you were even playing. There WAS still skill involved and it was fun for those who liked PvP, not fun for those who didn't. They were honestly abandoned, just look at all the shitty systems they've added throughout the years. Look at the areas until Valencia, there's quests everywhere, people who had really nothing to say are voiced, they got quests, they got stories. Lots of effort went into LoML and I was impressed. That being said, I do think they need to make something to appeal who are interested in open world interactions. But they killed it themselves, by making grinding way too profitable over anything else. I think the PvP is actually what killed the game over time, or trying to balance the PvP rather. But people wouldn't stop complaining, now everyone complains about gear being capped. They either need to commit or just bring back the full on sandbox. We'll see what they do after LoML2, cause I doubt they're doing anything big until after that.

I been grinding hard to get my gs to 700+ just to show those madafakas who bullied me when i came back. that motivation to not feel like a noob, that is what i play for. I hope they dont keep fucking shit up or else id regret coming back.

they could just expand RBF, and make the rewards better Imagine RBF capture the flag, like World of Warcraft battlegrounds. Nodewar is in a way better spot , yes it has some issues but it is in a way better spot, it's not PA fault that people like ChampionJason prefer to afk instead of just going on a killing spree I do agree that some changes they did to open world PvP sucks But unfortunately for everyone BDO is trying to please their Lost Ark andies that refuged to this game

People bitching about open world PVP being dead & that PA destroyed it is hilarioius. There are Arsha servers that are ghost towns in terms of PVP. That's evidence enough that Open world PVPrs are in the minority and the majority don't want it.
