From 29 years ago today, Dec. 9, 1980, here is news on the tragic shooting of John Lennon, from WCBS-TV, Ch. 2, New York. I had to remove some Beatles music and replace it with generic music in some parts, due to the Copyright Police, I don't want them taking down these clips. This is part 1.

Yes, Yes it will. There were many many BIG SELLERS of records the 1960-1980 era that are all but COMPLETELY forgotten. But John is STILL inspiring artists TODAY whose PARENTS were themselves just "KIDS" when John died. That's an EXCLUSIVE CLUB indeed!

The footage is in pristine condition to be over 43 years old. I am glad it was preserved for future generations. Keep John Lennon's memory alive.

It has been said by Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles, that it was John Lennon's assassination that motivated her to form the music ensemble. 🙂

When someone as world famous as Lennon dies, unfortunately there are people out there who feel like " hey they were a public figure so their funeral should be just as public too" irregardless of the fact that these are people with lives, families, and feelings that don't concern the public. It happened with Valentino, it happened with Diana too. and IT will happen again unfortunately.

John Lennon said that he didn't want to be lionized like so many celebrities who pass, he said "I don't worship the dead Celebrity, I worship the survivor ". I think John would have been bemused by all the hosannas bestowed upon him.

I agree!, if ever there was such a thing as a time machine I would participate to go back in time & my biggest request would be to New York City on December 8th 1980 to warn John Lennon about a stalker with a gun & possibly save his life & change history!, if only a time machine would exist??

Not so ironically, Lennon was killed a month after Reagan was elected. I am not usually a conspiracy theorist but I believe there was a connection. I will have to see more proof that the killer really was a "lone nut" and that there was no political connection.

Reagan is elected and a month later Lennon is murdered. No coincidence. The last thing the conservative/"Christian" right needed was Lennon alive, speaking, making music and inspiring people to resist.

"Crime in the Cities" or "Gun Control" had NOTHING to do with John's murder. No matter how high the crime rate might have been in NYC, This had zero impact. The killer traveled 5,000 miles to do the deed. John could have been living in the safest, low crime rate small town and it would have changed NOTHING. He was TARGETED and STALKED. Gun control is STUPID on it's face. Ok, You make some gun illegal? OK, Cool. MURDER was ALREADY illegal. Do you think a CRAZED KILLER gives ONE SOLITARY FUCK if his GUN was legal or not?!? He could have used a BUICK for that matter. FFS. We HAVE "car control" and people STILL kill people with cars. 🤷‍♂️

I'm with you. When we had some occasions of mass killers in the UK, they made such an issue of tightening gun control laws, and they are extremely strict in the UK, but I always thought, most crimes are carried out by those with an illegal weapon, so tightening the laws won't help. If someone wants to get a gun - they will. I read the person who suggested Kennedy went to Dallas in the open topped car, spent his life regretting it, cos he felt Kennedy would not have been shot by the sniper if it was not for the open car, but I have always thought, whoever killed him would have anyway - Dallas/open car or not. They would have just found another way. If someone wants you dead, they will do it, whatever.
