Our fourth and final KZfaqr meetup event just took place over the weekend. It was held inside the former J.W. Cooper school. A decaying building located in Shenandoah, Pa. Although the building looks abandoned, it actually is rising up from a bad place. Built in 1918, this iconic building once operated as a make shift hospital. After closing in the 1980's, this building had seen its share of owners. None of which have done anything to help fix up or restore it. On the verge of being demolished, someone stepped up and he is currently trying to restore it and turn it into a community center for the town. It's believed that this school houses one of the, if not the oldest indoor swimming pool. We were very grateful to the owner for allowing us to use his building for our event. I learned that you can event rent out the auditorium for your own personal use. Despite cold weather, we had a great turnout and i loved exploring this place. Enjoy

Fantastic old building. I loved that art nouveau chandelier circa 1920s, unique. And that indoor pool! The old report cards, the little girl's shoe, rotting schoolbooks...great place for a ghost hunt.

I used to go through Shenandoah to get to my aunt's house in Frackville. It's been sad to see the town decline over the years, so glad they're saving this piece of history!

What a great find. School is lovely to bad its so old. Boy would think the kids would be so proud of going to school there. Great place. I would try and save some things that are yet good. Saw a iron sitting chair that is an antique, those type of things have to be saved as that is history to come forever. Many thank JP>

I hope he leaves as much as he can of the original layout. ( classroom chalkboards etc. ) will really add to the ambiance and the historic integrity. Just the fact that he is trying to save it is admirable. @@JPVideos81

Great School 100 years old is something. TThat will take a lot of fixing up, 100 years old is quit a bit, some body has to have some money. I think I would rebuild. But I am not a contractor, I just see hell of a lot of work. Excellent find JP.

wonderful building awesome pool the old table was cool i wish i had a lot of money this building would be mine i love the details the chair in the corner was spectacular the drone coverage was amazing this is by far the BEST video/location i've seen yet maybe the new owner could get clubs, businesses, agencies sponsor different rooms ie the Eagles room, the Microsoft room, class of 1966 room a tax write off for them and a bonus for the new owner

I’m not sure, but the high school I attended, the girls basketball court looked just like that except the “track” you referred to was a place where they had a couple of rows of bleachers. Just a thought. I enjoy those videos so much!

The large door , the statue, and the candelabra, all look like props from a production of Phantom of the Opera. The name on the door is Daae, is the last name of Christine, so I'm assuming the door was used for the entrance to her dad's tomb. It was pretty cool seeing that stuff along with the old pool.

If those walls could talk. I can’t even imagine what they would say. The auditorium was cool. There was something about the bathroom with the cool doors that was fascinating. My favorite was the pool. I loved the tile and the built in stairs was, genius! See you in the next one. Are you planning on looking for more houses to explore? Those are my favorite.

JPVideos I know, I’ve been binge watching them. Omgoodness! I’m so addicted to seeing the old furniture and such. I look at some of those doors (in other videos) and would love to contact the owner just to see if I could snag 4 for my bedrooms. I absolutely love the wood and the old door knobs. And some of those windows, makes me want to cut into my walls to make long windows! The rooms are so full of natural light. And even though there is a lot of overgrowth, the greenery is amazing, being so close to nature! ♥️

I really really really hope that you’re right brother, but just my opinion (and we all know what options are like ), but this place is done for. Without a major high dollar FAST rescue the deterioration will stay ahead of the restoration, I hope I am wrong, and I hate being wrong! Lol. I wish I had millions to dump into places like this.... will never be occupied again, very sad. Am I a downer, or just realistic? Gave thumbs up as always!

Patience is key. They have already restored electricity to several areas of the bldg. They have a working bathroom and i think 2 or 3 rooms are already down. Its a slow, painstaking process. But i believe it will have a positive outcome.
