For me personally, I felt it was overdone to the point of violently taking me out of the moment. But then again, my suspension of disbelief gets shattered way too easily, to the point I rarely feel any emotional connection to fictional characters.

I heard in a podcast that he lost a family member just before recording this line, which is partly why it is so heartfelt. Because he dug from his real emotions and let it out.

@omegagilgamesh I actually respect that and I am intrigued too. Could you remember the few times you got emotionally invested in a story? If you are that hard to please in that aspect then surely the stories that exceeded your expectations must be really good and I just might want to experience them.

Performance mdoe is where it's at. The image quality is still near on perfect and it just smooths out a lot of the game.

Guys I am telling you all right now. This demo provides alot of context to the story, something we did not have prior to watching the trailers but stay AWAY from the trailers right now. DO NOT watch them again. I didn't realize but there is a ton of things they spoiled in those trailers specifically about Clive and Joshua's story arc that could really just ruin everything for you. Play this game when it comes out and try and erase the trailers from your mind. That is the best advice I can give ya all.

As I heard from someone with more insight into the game, the trailers only spoil (or not) like first 8h of the game max. But I agree, better stay way from them, cause we have more context now.

This!! Totally agree, I actually happened upon something from the trailer when I was making the thumbnail and I kinda wish I hadn’t!! It’s a good thing I already erased the trailers from my brain anyways 😂

@@J_R_BS True, but 8-10 hrs is still alot and it would suck to have some of the key moments in that 1st act spoiled. The rewards are worth it if you go into it blind.

Well the thing is Clive was Ifrit but he doesn’t know it himself and also doesn’t know how to control it, the moment when togal the doggo whimpered was kinda when Clive realised what was happening but again doesn’t really know it was him doing it.

We don't know for sure that Clive was the one who was fighting Joshua. They showed Clive as Ifrit fighting another Ifrit so there's a possibility of two Ifrits existing somehow.

He's the only one that has yellow eyes when he transforms as seen in the trailers with him fighting Garuda as Ifrit and in the Ifrit vs. Ifrit fight in another trailer. The rest of the Dominants always have blue eyes when they transform. The out of body experience was him seeing what he was doing to his brother through Torgal's eyes.

@@UniversalDorks I believe the yellow eyes mean they are not in control. Joshua as the Phoenix had yellow eyes until Ifrit started attacking him. Then we saw it from his perspective and the eyes were blue. If anything, that proves Clive was Ifrit even more, because he clearly was not in control of what that eikon was doing.

@@ArcherWillowsFor this to be true then the twist would be that the hooded man is somehow Clive? Why wouldn't the imperials take him afterward if he is Ifrits dominant at this point? I think it could go either way, we don't have a hard confirmation imo.

That last part with Dutchess Annabella (or whatever the mother's name was) really drives home the Game of Thrones influences. BTW, Joshua's dead? Yeah, Story Telling 102: unless the audiences sees a dead body, then a major character is only actually dead in poorly written stories. We saw the PHOENIX get a hand through the chest, Superman-to-Joker style, but we haven't yet seen Joshua's body. It could be he wasn't touched, for all we know.

@coolravi2 On the other hand we did see the Phoenix go from getting one-shot to full health. It is the Phoenix after all. On the other other hand, you CAN fail the Phoenix-Ifrit fight, which happened to me because the inverted Y axis suddenly doesn't work in that fight 🤣 So yeah who knows!

Well the mother killing her maids was told earlier in the demo. Where she said that the next time something happens to Joshua it's on their heads.... And all she did was promise what she did say...

I just...one thing i havent noticed is anyone reacting to that apparently there's some level of goddess, possibly a *moon* goddess, named "Metia". now...i KNOW a lot of us FFXIV players are looking at this game. So...i *cant* be the only one who heard/saw that name and went "Oh. _Noooooo._ " right?

Yes, they were called Marboros in previous games, but started being called Marbols in 14. The name is likely a reference to Marlboro brand cigarettes, and among the multitude of health problems, smoking also causes: Bad Breath. I imagine the name change is due to not wanting a visit from Marlboro's lawyers for copyright/trademark infringement.

i get it you are first time at a CBU3 game. if you didnt played ff14 then you dont know, if you played you know...either way, the demo was chill compared to what in store for you.....CBU3 always supases itself...ive been here for over 5 years and every time its don that...be prepared for some weird stuff and a lot of crying!

Benedikta makes me so uncomfortable. She feels very forced. I think they were trying really hard to please westerners with her and it’s super cringe in my opinion. I know others will love her and that’s fine but she’s not my cup of tea.

@@TheFlyingBookworm You might be right. I think it’s just difficult to tell where they are trying to go with her character. They usually have these very soft sweet japanesey women and while I don’t expect them all to be japanesey I was drawn to the series because of that. All I know is I’m weary because square seems to have an obsession with trying to appeal to western audiences to the point that I wouldn’t be shocked if the CEO cut off his own arm if he thought it would please us. I don’t want lord of the rings if I did I would go watch it. I want a fuckin’ jrpg style final fantasy game. I am trying to keep an open mind but honestly if square screws 16 up I’m giving up on final fantasy all together.

@@BrightElk I think it's ok to play with the intended target audience per installment. This installment has dark tones and blood, which could really minimize its release in Asia. Focusing this installment on a different audience is a viable strategy for the new style. That being said, I think Jill's character will be more what you are hoping for. Benedikta comes off as a fem fatale villain. Many people could be attracted to her, but they probably won't like her.

@@TheFlyingBookworm Well I respect that but I just found out they were inspired by game of thrones and I’m kind of done. I hated game of thrones. I’ve come to the conclusion that final fantasy just isn’t my thing anymore. I’ll probably buy their square soft remakes but none of their new titles. Look don’t get me wrong I get that final fantasy can and should change it but it’s just not my thing anymore. I think I’m just going to move on to other games. I just miss the old timey rpg’s and square doesn’t want to make them anymore. I will not put money into this. I do hope you guys enjoy it. No hate to you either way. Good luck.
