the only thing about the demon is when i go on it, i always duck my head on the demon cave part because i always feel like im going to hit my head on it XD

Nothing like a summer day you have butterflies in your stomach it is your first roller coaster and you are SO EXCITED!

I went on this in 1979 when it was still called "The Turn of the Century". No loop after the first hill, no tunnels or demons back then.

I rode this back in 1981, shortly after it reopened as The Demon. It was MUCH more exciting when they had the mist and sound effects in the first tunnel, the lights and sound effects in the second tunnel, and the blood-red colored water before the skull and corkscrews. Now the ride just looks ... old and tired. My childhood; I miss it.

VERY old Arrow Coaster. For most of you who might not know, Arrow is short for Arrow Dynamics, the company who designed and built this coaster. This looks to be an early model Arrow. Sadly, all the effects including the fog, blood colored water from the waterfall, and the head tunnel have been removed from the coaster ;'-( what's left, is the actual ride itself. I hope its still standing. As Arrow is no longer a company. The president died. That's all i know about it. But hope this amazing piece of art is still working and still going.

I remember this ride from its first inception in the 1970's! It has changed a lot. It's slower and doesn't have as many twists and turns as it once did. The double barrel roll is still there, so that's good to see!

It was revolutionary in it's time. Not as thrilling or intense as it's current counterparts, but still packs a thrill.

I remember my first ride on this coaster (in the 80's) the tunnel was lighted back then and the water was red

As a kid, I was always a little scared of the cave with the red glowing eyes in front of this ride.

It certainly looks like a smooth ride. The one at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois is very bumpy, even to the point of causing whiplash.

For such a compact coaster it's got a great theme between the opening tunnel and the "cave" that you dive into at the midway point. Awesome little ride!

The "Demon Roller Coaster" here in Chicago (Gurnee, Illinois) is a great coaster too. Especially the cork screw part over the railroad tracks with the train passing thru :-)

I have rode The Demon at SFGA in IL countless times since I was a kid. It will always be one of my favorites. There is nothing quite like an Arrow looper.

it's almost exactly the same as Dragon Fire at Canada's Wonderland. Except I feel like Dragon Fire has less straight parts

I remember when the Demon opened. There used to be smoke and lights and snarling growls on the first tunnel before the climb, and a light show in the tunnel after the loops. Also, it looks like the main drop has been changed to be less steep? Idk, it was a long time ago, but I swear it dropped nearly straight down. FUN RIDE!!!

I was bummed because it was closed last Sunday. This was the first loop roller coaster I ever went in because my mom forced me I. While chaperoning a school field trip, I have been hooked on roller coasters ever since.

This ride reminds me of a woodie with the term being said, "this got meaner with age". The concept is the same on a mental note. I have heard so many great reviews on this ride. And all I can say, is once again TPR just made the experience even better without being on the ride. Thank you TPR! :)

Six flags Great Americas Demon is way better. Reasons. In tunnel 1 there are eyes. On the vertical loops there are rocks you go through. In the second tunnel there are lights that flick on and off. The demon moth you go into before the corkscrews is much more looking like a demon. Do I need to do any more explaining? If you want proof, look up Six Flags Great America Demon. Did I mention that the coaster has VR?

I remember when this one first opened in the late 70's. The first tunnel was spewing with fog, the 2nd tunnel had a light show that ran the entire length, and the final tunnel before the corkscrews had a loud disorienting sound effect & the waterfall was blood red. I'll never understand why they took those great parts out.

I remember when this coaster was brand new. My first upside down roller coaster, followed by the Tidal Wave. Fun times.

Go back and do a video of the California Gold Rush ride. You know, the new big wooden one? I can't fit on roller coasters anymore, and I found that out after sitting in line for 4 and a half hours for that one ride. So I'd really like to see it in action.

I love that you called it The Turn of the Century! I like that original version better than The Demon incarnation. Those two bunny hills gave tremendous airtime.

This was my first looping coaster and it was great when i was little.

I've been on much more fierce rides than that. It was pretty short and kinda bland.

Classic "older" coaster in NorCal. I remember riding Demon for the first time in the 80's. It was originally called Turn of the Century and didn't have the vertical loops. It had two large camelbacks plus the two corkscrews.

I’ve been on this ride a lot and it’s really fun. Also, one time there was no line at all, so we got to go like 5 times without waiting and got front seat every time

I rode this many years ago in the Six Flags in Gurnee and it was lots of fun.

I went on this when I was 10. And I have been addicted to roller coasters ever since.

This was the coaster that every time I go to Great America, I HAVE to ride this coaster twice, once when I get there, and right before they close, so I'm on it in the evening.

This and flight deck are some of my favorites at great America, only the second loop nearly broke my neck.

I remember riding this back in high school in 1989, and there used to be a small rock tunnel between the two vertical loops.

This was my first coaster. I have fond memories of it.

this was my first real roller coaster (non-kiddie) when I was 7, and I've LOVED roller coasters since. whenever I visit now, this is my first ride haha.

this was one of the two rides i didn’t go on at great america because i heard that you shouldn’t ride this ride with your earring because of the head banging so i never went (i’ve only been to great america once for a field trip).

Its fun, lines are usually short, but the rides probably one of the biggest ear bangers in the whole park

I'v been on this one befor! It was awsome! My ears just hurt at the end though! It just went smaking into my seat.

This is, like, the only one there I haven't been on. Hopefully next time I go I will be able to ride it.

As much as I love B&M coasters, there's just something about the old Arrow coasters that's just... Beautiful. Maybe I'm just biased because that was the first full-circuit looping coaster I ever road. Just a few minutes after riding my first ever looping coaster, the Tidal Wave. Back in the days when the park was still themed, when the Tidal Wave still had its lights and beachfront, and the Demon still had the glowing eyes by the entrance, 3 queue mazes, lights around the tunnel entrance, rocks around the loops complete with color-changing lights, and glowing eyes on the skull. Yeah, the new coasters are exciting, thrilling, and give one more of an adrenaline rush than any old coaster could. But I have yet to see one that was anywheres near as beautiful as the older ones.

This was my first big boy ride. Still love roller coasters to this day.

I remember riding The Demon during some promotion called "Double-Dare The Demon" where you could ride twice in a row without getting off. The day I went the park wasn't too busy and so I got to ride 9 times in a row. I also recall that there was a song that played in the queue are warning you about "the Demon.. the Demon!"
