Piracy is preservation!
@PvblivsAelivsАй бұрын
Claims like this are shy preservation efforts are doomed to fail. Too many people latch on to the idea of "preservation" as an excuse for piracy when they just want to play a game for free within a week of its release.

@@PvblivsAelivs how so? what is the "correct" answer then? piracy is about breaking DRM and sharing to the ones that cannot afford the original produtc, we can't preserve games with DRM, the game WONT WORK.

@@Mario-zi8wr "No response yet lol MASSIVE L" Is that "L" along the same lines as "do you still beat your wife?"? Of course. It is completely disingenuous. And only those who love their "five-fingered discount" would expect that I needed to respond to anything.

Found this video on my recommendations. Great video. For me video games preservation really relies on the efforts of its fans and not on the gaming companies. They (gaming companies) don't have the incentive to preserve games because it doesn't help in their bottomline which is to sell more games/software and consoles/hardware.

3:04 you could pull the "big brother special play #2" give your little brother the player 2 controller and make him think he's playing. Likewise, you could hold a controller while you are watching let's play, lol

I think it's harder to access older games than it is to preserve them. Not my case cause i'm not american, but i know there's risk if you're downloading a torrent with 1 tb of roms, but regardless i think "game preservation" is a label to make older games pricey. I'm a collector myself and i have no illusion that i'm "preserving" the games i own, they are being destroyed as we speak for whatever reason, specially optical media. Don't worry, most games had millions of copies made, we won't run out of copies anytime soon.

Hey I just found your video and wanted to say that I enjoyed it very much. I've been part of a few game preservation projects in the past and present myself, usually doing reverse engineering. Efforts for game preservation are still mostly reserved for hobbyist which means its not very organized and focuses on popular games. It's sad to see how much culture we may lose in the future because most modern games put so many blockers for preservation into our way... The funny thing is that we could currently be in the one of the best position to preserve media, simply because digital has become so prevalent. Instead, companies put so much effort into making sure that their games can only be played on their terms, even if that means that no one can play them at some point.

I strongly agree my friend. We are too far and between. It'd be nice if companies didn't try to kill off games...

What the hell?!?! Nintendo wii games are perfectly fine being emulated. Have you not heard of the Dolphin bar? Emulation is superiors in many ways. Run Ahead Latency provide less button lag than original consoles .
