All morning I’ve had problems something that should have taken 4 hours has taken 8 and crashed upon upload to KZfaq …beyond frustrated 🤯There was an outage according to Chat person. Up until a month ago Descript was my preferred software now it’s my last too many problems ESPECIALLY the last month it’s been non stop. I can’t count how many hours I’ve wasted waiting for it to process only to have it crash and have to start all over, crash then have to start all over on another software. I tried the record screen then transcribe a couple weeks ago…”couldn’t recognize speech” tried again same error. For those that try this do it on a VERY Short non time sensitive video

You aren’t the only one. I was with it when they first added transcription abilities and the app was superb but with high end Internet and high end computer I have now it is horrible to work on and I really want to trust it now but missed weeks of my time dealing with Descript.

@@ServantStatusMinistries SAME‼️‼️ I have the fastest modem, my brother in law built a computer that’s “a screamin’ demon” and I made sure to connect directly to the modem with the best Ethernet cable so there’s no issues with WiFi. Worked fine until about a month ago. One night I got so frustrated I just left it “work” woke up and there was “Sorry there was an error”. My videos are LONG 2-5 hours usually and it can take all day to upload, transcribe, edit, proof while editing again then upload. Last night was a new issue, my video was 4 hours and it has a warning “Over 3 hours is audio only” so I had to create a duplicate cut it in 2 parts THEN kept giving me a “we can’t auto save” and it was View only” I could go on and on…the transcribing yesterday was at least twice as long as before. The Live Chat person once I’d fought for hours said “Oh oops we had a major outage follow these instructions and you should be good” I said “I only get X amount of hours and don’t want to be billed again” plus all the hours I’d already waited for it to process were lost and the the aforementioned took twice as long then splitting in 2 parts. I started this Journey with CapCut and they’re horrible but the last month they’ve gotten better and Descript has gotten 1000x worse…transcription editing isn’t offered by many companies so it’s not like we can easily pack up and subscribe elsewhere. So frustrating…thank you for listening 🙏

Try editing by sound instead with TimeBolt. Media engine or not it can't touch the speed of sound.

Question: I'm confused is the desktop faster than the web-browser? I use the desktop for reference wondering if I should use the web-broswer?

I noticed Studio Sound is so much faster to apply now. Before it would take up to 5 minutes to apply it.

My limiting factor with Descript is the stability and ease of use of the timeline editor when I bring B-roll media onto my video or want to add titles etc. Are there any improvements to that in the media engine?

Ha, yeah me too! I was hanging onto that for a second and impressing myself. And yes I do want to know how it chooses between H265/HEVC video.

Well, not to say speed or restarts were a big pain for me. So it does become more expensive (probably, due to higher expenses) but I still need to do color grading, and audio editing in a different software?
