As mainly a puzzle gamer (+dev) these days, the manual was the core game for me, with the rest of the experience existing mostly to support the discoveries in the manual. It was surprising to hear you hadn't considered asking about the manual at first, glad you ended up getting to it, I find the manual and its secrets to be the most innovative part of Tunic.

I am thoroughly impressed by this game. On the surface, Tunic is a Bloodborne-esque Zelda-like game. But, at its core is a meta homage to 90s gaming culture. Thank you for this video.

I think the thing I like the most about Dicey is he is a man who keeps things simple, but does them right, even down to his interview equipment. Good camera, decent lighting in an organized yet natural room, and a studio quality microphone with the gain adjusted so we can hear him even when he's soft-spoken. This man is something special, and the game he made is going down as one of the greats in history.

I heard about TUNIC at its release and I was like “ah, looks like a cute old school Zelda game… but as a Zelda fan, I rather play the real games” My best friend, last week, told me to not underestimate this game, he says that it has really good puzzles and that I should play it without looking at anything on the internet, cause it could ruin everything. So I started by cracking the game to test it, after 1 hour I liked it, so I bought it on steam. I’ve played 35 hours and finished the game at 100% all by myself (few hours has been spent outside of the game to understand some puzzles) And what can I say, it was one of the best journey I’ve ever had in a video game, this game is on my list of games that I’d really like to erase from my memory to be able to fully rediscovering them… I said I’ve liked the game after 1 hour But I totally loved TUNIC after 35 ❤

This game perfectly captures the feeling of wonder and discovery I had when I was a child playing SNES games that I couldn't read anything, since I didn't know english. Finally understanding some new mechanic was like a puzzle within a puzzle, exactly how I felt as a child. This game is a must-play for anyone, even more if you were a non-english speaker child playing a game in english.

You can tell by the way Andrew talks that he’s very focused on making a game that’s simply fun. He’s a guy that’s probably played and analyzed games his whole life and knows all the different aspects that make a game fun and addicting to play. Tunic is the proof of that, phenomenal game! It’s up there for me with Hyper Light Drifter, Fez, and Hollow Knight as some of the best indie games I’ve ever played

When I was young, before I learned English, before the Wii/Xbox 360/PS3 generation and especially until 2000, games weren't available in French in Quebec (or almost never). I remember reading PS1 or GameCube game manuals and trying to scour them for any info I could find about the game world. It was a way for me to build up the anticipation. I still have memos in my Crash Bandicoot manual. It was an uncomparable experience that this game finally allowed me to experience anew.

For all those who enjoyed Tunic I want to ask the question to the dev: Did he know/play "The Lore of Canis" before developing Tunic? The only secrets that I found to not be well laid out were the ones in the cathedral (you know the ones I'm talking about). I never found a hint that such an interaction was possible. Really curious is a sequel would be possible?

That's amazing cause as someone who took years and years to learn English. I'm fre'ch by the way. I though like anybody would understand what morphball is. Especially is English if your mothertongue. But no. And that's crazy but even though I've grew up with French language I keep learning some new words and I don't feel like it's not normal. They're is so many words that you will hear a few times in your life. And even though I can write all of this, doesn't mean thzt I can understand every words or know what they mean in English. Also yeah, the manual made me think too about when you play a hale in Japanese that you imported from there before internet existed
