I'm glad to see that Hollywood's number one rule is being respected in this film. "ALL females must trip and fall down while running (even if they are experienced, athletic and agile runners.)" I'm a big believer in tradition, so I'll give it a thumbs up.

Of course her life gets flipped upside down on the one day she takes a day off. The bad guys knew she will go for a jog around the state, and leave her adult son who acts like a sulking teenager, home alone for a few hours, to fend for himself... perfect recipe for a poorly planned kidnapping. I bet the bad guys must have been rather unimpressed with how she kept getting lost, or kept taking the longer way home.

I had a couple of problems with this movie. Using a mobile phone while your're running is one thing, there would be very hard to do. Plus I couldn't help wondering if people who might have been at the site of the event were able to obtain as much information as she was getting on her phone from Law enforcement and other people. Apart from that the movie was okay and Naomi Watts is always very watchable.

I found this movie to be incredibly frustrating - it was basically an hour watching someone running in the woods for 70 minutes and riding in a car for 20 minutes. I quickly lost sympathy for this woman because, the way the story was written, she was making too many stupid mistakes that either I didn't get or they just didn't add up. And I hate the way they set this up with the false flag of her kid being the school shooter - with his door barricaded in the beginning, him being fully dressed, and being withdrawn, etc. Then he tells HER what he's not doing to do (i.e. go to school) and she just accepts that and says she's going for a run. Who would do that? Then she looks like she's running in a straight line on a huge paved road - wherever she is. It's not like she makes umpteenth turns on small roads and stuff, so when she gets the call and starts panicking in the woods you just feel like - "OK, Lady - calm down. You're running a straight path - just turn around and run BACK the way you came." Like, I couldn't understand why. Whether the GPS said 5 miles or 10 miles from where you came - if you keep just going back the way you came you'll eventually end up right back where you started. And then she was making all these frantic phone calls to people and the police like her son was the only kid that mattered in the situation. It didn't sit right. And then she coerced this man to break the law and get license plates and contact info trying to find this man - and for WHAT? That 5 minute call she placed to him did nothing, moved nothing forward, saved no one, and netted her no information AT ALL. She put her son in grave danger - telling the man who she is and who her son is. Her actions were the opposite of care and concern for him. Not to mention the other people's kids that were in that room. Again - none of her calls did anything. They didn't need her to contact him again because he could have shot those remaining kids any time he wanted to - talking to her didn't stall him or prevent that. He didn't want to kill them or he would have. I don't understand the premise of this movie. It would be hard for me to explain to anyone what this movie was about or why it was greenlit in Hollywood. There are a lot of movies about mass killing (the purge, fight run freeze, etc) and school shooting coming out lately. It doesn't take much thought to figure out why.
