45 days I traveled through New Zealand from the Northernmost point to the Southernmost point, then
100 days I traveled by motorbike through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, then
365 days I traveled in my self-built campervan from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, then
365 days I traveled with this van through Iran and Pakistan, then
180 days I built an off-grid log cabin in the woods in Spain, then
180 days I restored an old sailboat in Guatemala, then
365 days I traveled with this sailboat from Guatemala to Honduras, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Grenada and more islands in the East Caribbean

Huub - you embody a tremendous amount of heart and positivity which would be a welcome gift for those who’ve lost everything. Not to tell you what to do, but your presence brightens up a lot of days and I’m sure the residents there could use it. Be well 🙏

Been through several Hurricanes in St Croix and in The States , worse problem is the pain and work remain long after the News crews and Volunteers leave. It takes years to recover. Green lush islands are turned brown. We wish You well. You will make it.

Thank you for this. I could even see my boat, Rocinante, that survived in the mangroves, brought out by friends and is on a mooring not far from the small haul out. I have lent her to a Scottish couple I have never met whose boat fell over in that small yard. I am on Vancouver Island, until November. I have kept her on my favourite island of Carriacou for 20 years. I know that island intimately. It’s devastating, my heart breaks. Rocinante is visible at 7:08 just above the bow of the beached trawler.

Thank you Huub & Danielle for sharing this video. I have not seen anything else posted on the aftermath of the hurricane and how the locals are dealing with their loss of homes and business and everything. It's sad to see so much destruction. Bless you both and everyone on the islands that were damaged. 🌴⛵🐬

Thanks for the video. Heartbreaking. I was there on lagoon 42 Bluevana just a week before the storm. We were moving the boat to Trinidad. Tyrell bay was pretty full of boats at the time. The devastation is heart breaking.

Hai Huub and Daniela, impressive images. I live on Bonaire myself. Beryl passed there at a safe distance. Your video makes me realize once again what we were spared and how lucky we were here. That will make you quiet for a moment.

Reminds me of that video where you put your boat somewhere and they dig first a hole for the keel to go into (it was basically sitting on the ground that way). Seems like a much safer solution in hurricane areas that haveng the boats high up (and then fall down)...

Wow. I knew it was bad but it's way worse than I thought. The storm surge with the wind are next level. Many of the boats were well prepared and still got wrecked. Poor island. Good to see that essentials are being seen to by the local authorities and private businesses.

Paradise, it seems, is not without its downside, especially against hurricanes that bring no mercy. When I lived in a sailboat I was barely spared by chance or dumb luck, but the happy memories will last all my life.

We spent 43 days sailing from Brazil, passed Grenada with Beryl approaching, turned our bow to Spanish Waters, Curacao. If Beryl is the thin end of the wedge, predicted in an above average hurricane season I am so glad we are anchored in Curacao.

Thank you for sharing this vlog of the terrible impact that that the hurricane had on Grenada. Seeing short clips of the damage on news reports does not have the same impact as your "boots on the ground" report does. Your video reinforces the saying that one picture (or video) is worth 1000 words.

All in a good cause. However, do you hope money raised goes to yacht owners, insurance companies, or communities? There's 3 ways it could go. Which is it? Is there a way to help the community without it going to wealthy people?

Devastating but that is nature sometimes God extends his grace and sometimes not for the guys asking for houses my question is did you have one before the hurricane? I know people are in need but to boldly ask for something like that storm or no storm humble yourselves and try to clear debris or something instead of sitting there doing nothing. That's my two cents.

I didn't see anybody sorting things out? Usually after a storm the survivors/most there if able, work sort things out. The store was open, even though no refrigeration/electric. How many days is that after the storm? Maybe they don't have the infrastructure needed to sort things out, rebuild and maintain basic civilization.. I dunno much about the Caribbean other than it being a tourist draw for travelers and sailors. Maybe everyone in waiting for insurance assessments? Sad state of affairs. Maybe it's time to move on?

Wow, many sailboats ⛵️ are damaged, and some can't be fixed .In Caribbean Island, every year, it has been curricanes. The best sailboats to keep in Pacific Islands, because way more safety, I don't know why people keeping boats in the Caribbean will always be damaged by boats .People do not understand how to keep boats .Sorry for this, people.
