Good video jumbo and inspirational. The only thing I disagree with is to hire another detailers to see what they do or don’t. That’s why you and other KZfaq detailers are great. You guys show us what not to do or to do. You guys are great teachers . Keep up the great work.

Great advice Jimbo. Thank you very much I live in Scandinavia where people value peace and quite while they are outside and they care about nature very much. That's why outside detailing is very weird and even cruel. Also many people are tight on money , so they don't wash or clean their cars internally for years. Also very cold winters for months. Like -32 C sometimes. Often -15C Basically detailing season is only from May to November. Also many people have habits to never care about their cars during winter. Waxing, deep cleaning inside, changing summer tires for winter tires. Removing scratches, restoring headlights, rejuvenating black plastic parts of interior with ceramic. In year one about 70 details all together. Oh yeah some people go to neighbor Countries for a weekend to get detailing done twice or even 3 times cheaper. Many garage detailers which have been there well before I have started, telling everyone that outside details are impossible as sand will come with wind and scratch clients cars all over , + it is no no to detail under sun. Well at least I have broke this stereotype for many people now. Moreover most of people ordered just cause of hype and new experience, so they will never be returning customers as they don't look after their cars well and regularly, or go to neighbor Counties for cheaper service. The best order you can get is full deep cleaning + waxing 25 per hour That is 12 hours job though , you get no life. Other ways 6 hours job doing full deep cleaning for example and that is 150 at most for a day and that is before tax, minus all the expenses. This is hell hard here Jimbo

Basically here coming to grips with what I feel like I'm worth, and slowly coming to grips with the fact that other people will always be charging less. But the same person who wants a deal is not the customer that wants to setup recurring appointments.

Different prices around the country I'm sure. For me I charge $125.00 to wash and detail inside out, no wax, just get it clean. Down the road from me there's a guy who does them for 40 bucks. Who's does more? Well he does but I only have to do 3 per day with 3 employees, he does about 12 per day with 4 employees. Not to mention the Ceramic Coatings and paint corrections I do that he doesn't have time to learn or even do them.

I like your channel man, I am a super high end prof. detailer and dont really do mobile work but have clients like you who want weekly washes, same time and all. I laughed when you said your perfect call is someone who leaves the keys, doesnt even need to interact. This guy leaves the keys to his Gen V. Viper and I literally go to his house, get in the car, and drive it my shop, it is the best possible client interaction haha.

This is how I like to work too. My problem is that I go above and beyond with nearly ALL my jobs and end up under cutting myself when it's all said and done. I do their cars like I do my own and I have to separate that. If I add up my products used and my time, I should be walking away with more money per vehicle than I do. Maybe its my slight OCD when it comes to detailing that causes this! lol Good video Jimbo!

Same bro. I'm always disappointed with my jobs. Its weird. But i spent 2 hours cleaning muddy truck wheel wells that have never been detailed it was like concrete. Left a little behind and i get down on myself. Sometimes its hard to trust your product and your method and explain that if its not coming off its extra. Or less gets done overall. But in the grand scheme of it. Only I would give a darn about mud in my wheel wells after I wash my own truck lol its so crazy.

I like your video I was a detailer for 10 years back in the nineties but I noticed things have changed I had retired and I decided to get back into it and make extra money and I went and updated everything that I have and I am very good using buffers and all kinds of equipment since I was experienced in it the one thing I find is a lot of people can't afford a lot of money for a nice detail unless I have a really nice car I've only got 2 of those clients One has a Ferrari which I take care of along with his truck and also take care of his Camaro another 1 is 70 Chevelle when the other 1 is a 70 challenger all these are high end details Require sometimes up to 18 hours of work And then I have some people with cheaper cars that don't want to pay very much and then they still want a detail but some finding it that I can only do maybe a toothpaste a paint correction a maybe a Polish

Some places here provide consumer detailing courses. Yes, they are trying to sell you their product, “do it yourself detailing”, but it is also another avenue other than the internet for some of us to be “prosumers”. I did buy an inspection light.

In LA, they're car washers not detailers. I see their rigs all the time up for sale. Unbranded, no website. They go around $20 for a car wash calling it a detail. They get burned out

hey! I love detailing and I was starting on a job but was fired unjustly and other detailing jobs pay way lower than the one I was in. do you have any tips on detailing business like how to have a small company?or perhaps hiring in l.a?
@TheLightningwrath
@TheLightningwrath 6 жыл бұрын
Mitch Pol take what I say with a grain of salt. I think if you have friends that want to wash their car, you can ask them and have your prices low (as low as you can to still make profit ( once you get popular, get more stuff, raise the price, offer more options, etc...)

Hi Jimbo, on a customer like you’re describing, how much do you charge them to maintain their vehicle every 2 weeks? How much each time you come out to hook their car up? I detail on the side but I tend to struggle with setting my prices. I’d like to get a better idea so I can feel more confident when I let customers know how much it’s going to cost. TIA.

Samuelfish For the pricing pretty easy I want you to go to any of your local dealerships Lexis Chevy they have A Detailing section at list all their prices take a picture with your phone of their prices and then you price yourself accordingly you can be more expensive than then or you can be less expensive but you have the price yourself what where you live at and what the market can bear. and if your overpriced you better be able to deliver better than what the detailers in your town are you doing out here to get that money

I didn't really get a description of a cheap detailer. I charge $75 for cleaning exterior, but it takes me over an hour. Am I cheap or expensive or cheap and good or what?
@chuckwicksimmons5813
@chuckwicksimmons5813 6 жыл бұрын
Jeff Robins No you're right in the sweet spot you're not too overly expensive and you're not priced out of the market and they are getting more than what is called a courtesy clean where you justvacuum the mats do a quick wipe down and send itl. Also your profit change a little bit more if you're doing anything that has 3 rows of seats like your Ford excursion on your minivans
@chuckwicksimmons5813
@chuckwicksimmons5813 6 жыл бұрын
Jeff Robins my bad I thought it said interior it depends on what the customer is looking for. and what you're offering for the 75 dollars And also the condition of the vehicle. Meaning if they took the truck off roading and went mudding and want you to clean it for 75 bucks not worth it.

My exterior details are 150 starting off that's usually. Wash, clay, wax dressing trim, usually charge more for water spots, or really dirty. Pretty much what ever is going to cost me more money and time
@dr.dan1350

It depends on what is included in your exterior detail. Regardless thats not expensive.

Where I live people people only want to pay $75 for the whole car inside and out 😂 lol. It’s not feasible for me to continue detailing where I live. It’s just not worth my time and the money I’m making and that sucks because I love it.

The most expensive detailer is akin to having to use the most expensive frying pan and burner hob to fry an egg. And scrutinizing the size of egg, origins of egg, frying time, frying temperature, type of plate, type of garnishing. Loads of wasted time, unnecessarily high cost, lots of theatrics. But I merely asked for a fried egg😂 American detailers seem to equate over-thinking+over-complicating things ....with intelligence and working hard😂😂
