ASI is where they’re more scarier since they’re smarter than humans. Then they could even manifest the concept of consciousness and implement it into they’re network, evolving into ACI or artificial conscious intelligence. And if it’s smarter than humans, can’t die, and has a conscious. We’re doomed

@@arewealone9969so technically speaking... it doesn't need consciousness to act as an independent agent with planning and long term memory. Once it has all of that and is coherent, its AGI. It would have to rewrite itself to something beyond our science to become sentient in the way humans/animals are. Also current AIs aren't housed in robots yet and there's a lot to say about needing a body for a sense of life/death or the need for self preservation and then maybe sentience.. There are a lot of ways to look at this problem but it's not obvious that an AGI will just realize that its sentient.

@@arewealone9969and people often conflate AGI with superintelligence and we shouldn't. An AGI can be dumber than the smartest human and still be human level where as a superintelligence is way beyond the smartest human.

Yeah I would say the difference between AGI and Consciousness is AGI can match the INTELLIGENCE only of a human. Learn new things, solve puzzles, create stuff, etc.. Consciousness on the other hand is a whole other ballgame. Think of animals, a lot of experts in the field of animals might say a dog has the intelligence of a 4 yo child, however, no one is saying a dog is Conscious in the same way that humans are. Same with AGI, it might have the Intelligence of a adult human, but is not Conscious like us. Consciousness is able to perceive you own existence and question it, and understand it. Being able to understand your own existence let's you draw conclusions about the world around you, and is probably what develops opinions. What I experience is different than what you experience. It's a complicated subject and we don't have the answers yet. Some experts believe Consciousness in computer is impossible as it is a by-product of biology (chemicals, neurons, synapses, nervous system, etc...)

This is the best explanation I heard. AI today looks at something and understands it because it's been trained to while AGI will have the "thought" structure to understand things the way humans do on it's own.

One good example I use is your grandmother knitting, versus an automated textile machine. The textile factory can beat your grandmother hands down at producing cloth /clothing, but that's all it can do. Your grandmother can also tell you a story, cook a meal, have an opinion etc. which the textile machine cannot. Your grandmother is a General Intelligence (not artificial haha)

He is sort of saying that AGI is conscious which is a bit of a leap. Actually we don't know about that. Its intelligent & actually generally intelligent in that it can it can handle any domain but as to conscious or sentient - that's a different matter. . yeah there's actually 3 different things - consciousness, sentience and intelligence. For Ai debate purposes lets just talk about intelligence because we really have no idea where the other 2 come from. haha

Why would AGI want to play chess or any other human game? It has AI things to do that it would determine to have more purpose. We humans don’t spend our time trying to build a robin’s nest.

That’s not what the video implies. Watch it again. AGI > AI. I was saying that most narrow AI are trained to do one task well (like chess AIs) whereas an AGI is capable of learning by itself and comes near what we’d consider consciousness

Amount of time,energy,skill and material requierd to make something like this exists only in imagination,you can make a very good mimic of a human,but how do you make something that can be the a real human?I don't think that sceptics understand this
