Great video, never heard of the caro-kane but seems very fun to play. Loved seing the subtle differences in plans and move orders such as playing f4 in carokane to open up files for the rook

You can play whatever you want but if you’d like to improve you shouldn’t play any gambit that’s -3 out of the opening if played moderately correct. It’s fun to play in blitz and bullet because your opponents have minimal time to find the correct squares for their pieces, but you most likely won’t have fun in classical when you’re down a piece with no attack

Just played the Caro-Kane in a classical slow time control this past week and my opponent retreated to the "bad" Ke8. Despite playing nearly all rhe Stockfish recommended moves thereafter(some wre slightly dufferent but weren 't naterially different) Black could have drawn the game. So don't automatically assume White wins after that retreat despite the big attack Amusingly, Stockfish for about 20 moves therefter will rank the top 6 possible moves for White witin a half point which probably suggests Stockfish doesn't know what's goung on

I was thinking alien gambit is really bad, sacrificing knight losing 3 point material and knight sacrifice actually blunder (??) according to stockfish. But I slowly realized King side is no longer safe, King cannot castling, black pieces losing their tempo to develop, I think alien gambit in the future is really good gambit. Maybe Witty Alien should take his time and make a book about alien gambit repertoire.

I think alien gambit is better tho because you kinda force your opponent to the mainline of alien. I mean in caro kane since you dont push d4 black can push their pawn to d4 attacking whites knight and cramping white position leading to another opening main line which i think is called winawer attack, therefore caro kane cannot be performed or played after black pushes d5-d4 cuz its transposes to another opening but its still a tricky and fun opening. Alien gambit is superior because you've push d5 therefore blacks common option is to take the e4(not totally force but in caro kann the main line if white did not advance his pawn you take it)and because you force your opening. Despite being down a knight its actually comfortable to play if the line was studied well since you will gonna have a comfortable and better repertoire or game plan/strategy Sorry for bad english. Edit:nvm, i thought they didn't talk about this in the vid lol.

Can he talk a bit slower? Native English speaker here and I can't understand every second word, I hate to think what second language speakers are thinking. Also it's a Knight, not a Pony.
